(Subdue)Unsettled Ground - Claire Fuller - 3.5 stars rounded up

Suspension of disbelief is a prerequisite for reading Claire Fuller's Unsettled Ground. On the first page we learn that Dot has died and that she has lived with her children, twins Jeanie and Julius who are 51 in a rustic country cottage which is in much need of updating and repairs.

Things devolve quickly from that point. We learn:

“Dot wanted a place she could call home,” he says. “To have her family around her, a bit of land, feel the sun on her skin. What many of us want when it comes down to it.”

The book is strange and a bit creepy, but after a slow and painful start it did draw me in.
