Just remembered that because of a challenge to read a graphic novel, I read Heartstopper: Volume One - actually the whole series, and just watched the Netflix version, which is largely set in an English secondary school. Kind of amazing that they still wear uniforms with ties and everything! It's a very sweet story, although rather unrealistic that hormonal teenage boys wouldn't progress beyond kissing. The series includes representations of multiple LGBTQ characters and addresses some serious mental health issues, so of course it's now being banned in some US schools, just where it might be most needed.
Ban This Book ... a group of middle-school kids fight against book banning by starting their own "locker library."

I would also vote for the Harry Potter series, as well as the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter that starts with I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You.
