This is a beautiful graphic novel memoir looking at the journey the author’s family took to leave Vietman at war to travel to the US to begin a new life. It looks at the effects of immigration and displacement have on different individuals and generations as well as the struggles the family faced in building a new life for themselves in a strange country. I really liked both the writing and the artwork, and the author’s wish to understand her parent’s pasts better.

I am delighted to see your review of this. I read this years ago - and it is actually the first graphic novel I ever read. Agree with your review.

It seems to be overlooked and thus under-appreciated, sadly.
