This is book 11, the last in the same series as our BOTM 1. I read this one much more recently, so I do not plan to read it again now.
I just finished An English Bride in Scotland and enjoyed it. I'm not sure if I will get to this one this month. I have several other books I definitely want to read in October. But in theory, I'll get back to this one.
Oleander, I'm glad you enjoyed the first book. My favorite is the 2nd book in the series. I love the silliness of her writing. I haven't decided if I'm going to read this book bc it's so far in the series. Are the other characters returning for this book?
I am also undecided about reading it Lauren for the reason you mentioned. I don't normally go from book 1 to book 11. I like to go in order, but it has been posted that this one can be a stand alone. So if I get to it this month, I will go ahead and read it. But if I have to go in order, then I'll just take my medicine and smile. I have no idea if characters return in multiple books.
Hi, this is my first book club experience. I am not overly fond of highland books but I thought I'd give it a try. I really wanted to see how this book club works. So what happens next? Do we report in at anytime to discuss it or is there a set day/time? I am only on chapter 3 and so far I like it.
Just read at your own pace and post your thoughts. Hide any spoilers and maybe mention how far you are in so others can know when to unhide.
Lauren wrote: "Elaine, did you finish the book? I was curious what you thought of it."I just finished it and generally I did not like it. Good points..the story line was interesting, the characters well developed and it was a stand alone book. Bad points….very slow in the middle, didn’t like Callen’s treatment of Allissaid during recovery and the ending was too quick. I am not fond of Highlander books but thought I’d give it a try, I would not recommend it unless you enjoy this genre. This is my first read and review in the club, I hope this is what is expected in a review.

Elaine, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy this book. I either love or hate LS books. You never know. I think it's great you finished the book when you dislike Highlander books so much. I look forward to your reviews for other books in the future.I still haven't decided if I want to read book 11 in the series. Does anyone know if other characters return?

This was just an okay read for me. The story was missing the magic of LS other books. I found the story predictable and the culprits obvious.
Elaine, I agree with you that the story slows down in the middle. I was a little bored and felt the MC romance was rushed. The chemistry was lacking for me.
I'm trying not to be too harsh bc I know others really enjoyed the story, but sadly, it just wasn't for me.

Synopsis:
**this is the 11th book in the same series as BOTM 1 for this month (which is book 1 in the ‘Highland Brides’ series**
For fans of Outlander, New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands’ newest installment of the Highland Brides series brings us a sweeping tale of passion as a laird’s swim in a loch leads to the love of a lifetime.
An invigorating swim in the loch was exactly what Calan Campbell, Laird of Kilcairn, needed after defeating his enemies in battle. What he didn’t need was a thief running away with his plaid while he swam. Calan gave chase and managed to catch the lad, only the lad turned out to be a lass, and obviously a lady. Having hit her head when he’d tackled her to the ground, the woman was now unconscious and couldn’t explain how she had ended up bruised and naked in his woods. He’d have to take her back to his castle and tend her wounds to learn that.
Kidnapped and forced to wed her clan’s enemy, Allissaid MacFarlane had risked death to escape. But after a struggle over a plaid she tried to “borrow,” she awakens in a strange bed with a strange man seated in a chair beside her. Unsure if he is friend or foe, she claims not to remember her own name or how she’d come to be in the clearing. However, the more time she spends with Calan, the more she falls for this strong, honorable laird. She soon decides she can trust him with her life. . . but can she trust him with her heart
