Sam | 11 comments Hey Alex :) My book is blended genre, but the three main themes are sci-fi, romance, and urban dystopia. It features a pristine human experiment and her wisecracking companion. I know its not strictly sci-fi, and it's quite a monster at 123k words, but if you're interested, email me!!

Amy | 13 comments Hi Alex,
I have a 91k sci fi novel I would love for you to beta read. Burb Below.
Foster siblings Cass and Jase were bonded telepaths. No matter where they went or what they did they were never truly alone and that was the way they liked it. Hunted by soldiers called the Faceless, most of their people lived in hiding. They either tried to blend in and live normal lives like Cass and Jase, or they joined the Clan and lived a nomadic existence because if they were found, they were taken. No one knew what happened to a person after the Faceless captured them, but they were never seen or heard from again.

Cut off from Cass for the first time in his life and kidnapped, Jase was thrown into a secret prison that was part work camp, part laboratory, and a slow death sentence. His only chance of survival was escape, especially when the prison’s chief scientist took a personal interest in him. With the Faceless on her tail Cass was forced into hiding with the Clan. She was safe and could stay that way if she kept her head down, but that wasn’t going to happen. She refused to stay on the sidelines when her brother’s life was in danger. Jase was alive and fighting for his very survival. He had an escape plan, but required outside help if it was going to work. He needed her, and fast.
Let me know if you're interested. Thanks!

A.J. Ambrose | 2 comments Hi Alex! I’m looking for beta readers for my sci-if (dystopian) novel. It’s at 77k words and suited to ages 16+.

If you’re interested, email me at kayaleeana@gmail.com 😊

Synopsis:

The year is 2085 and all has changed.

Under the Paramount's totalitarian rule, the life of a Lesser is not one to be admired. Despite this, Dean Dashwood manages to thrive with the love of his siblings and dedication to his work. Everything is perfect; England is sunny, technology is booming and everybody is equal.

However, when Dean makes a harrowing discovery about the true nature of Paramount's regime, he's sent to the only prison in the country to be cared for by unethical psychologists. Unable to stand the ill-treatment and separation from his siblings, he and his new cellmates must endure, learn and fight in order to escape.

As conflicts, plans and relationships bubble and collapse, Dean thinks all is not what it seems. The more he discovers about the world, the Paramount and their only opponent, the Division, the less seems to make sense. After all, ignorance is bliss—but just how ignorant have the Lessers been?

Dean was educated in the Institution. He will get to know better than anybody else.

Kelvin Reed (kelvinlreed) | 19 comments Hello Alex! Perhaps you'd be interesting in reading my 80k sci-fi/romance novel.

In the year 2323, lonely, twenty-six-year-old librarian Matt Hill has spent his entire life’s savings and then some on a female android designed to provide him with attention and affection. However, the android he selects, named Akari, is an experimental model with abilities more advanced than other such creations. Unknown to Matt, she also has a disturbing past, one hidden from Matt and even from Akari herself. "Love by Special Order" is a unusual love story about two individuals who form a bond rooted in a mutual desire to love and be loved.

Please note Matt is African American and Akari is Japanese.

I would mail the spiral-bound printed manuscript to you with a postage-prepaid envelope. The novel includes sex (not overly graphic) and some mild profanity. You would be reading more for clarity than content. If you feel strongly about a content matter by all means make your case, but two beta readers have already read it chapter by chapter for content. No pay, but I will buy you a book of your choice at Amazon after you return the manuscript.

Richard Ettinger | 19 comments I'd love for you to read my latest ‘The Button Situation.’
It's 1960 when we first meet young Julius Briscoe a typical American boy from a typical American town. It's the day before spring break, Julius is on the schoolyard where he is challenged to an unfair fight for wearing provocative socks. This threat unleashes Julius' psychic powers which he uses, unintentionally, to kill his challenger.
So begins Julius Briscoe’s long strange trip from an overcrowded public school in a middle class suburb of Philadelphia to a swanky private school on the ritzy Main Line. Along the way he thwarts a convenience store hold-up by the same gang that killed his father two years earlier. He avenges his father’s death, becomes a made man in the Jewish mafia and learns a history lesson he didn’t want to learn. And that’s just chapter one.
Each day Julius learns more about his abilities. He uses them to prevent a couple of thugs from raping a ten year old neighbor girl, reconnects with his one true love Grace Gold, daughter of the famed tennis star Neddie Beachum, and the granddaughter of the billionaire Miles Gold who as Julius learns later also has psychic gifts. Julius buys a snazzy foreign sports car, vows to avenge the brutal murder of his favorite teacher, meets the godfather of the jewish mafia and visits the Philadelphia Museum of Art with Gracie Gold.
Julius’ sprawling adventure brings him face to face with hoodlums, cheap shot artists, J. Edgar Hoover, smokin’ hot women, evil terrorists, the Daughters of the American Revolution, future rock and roll legends. He attends a Sadie Hawkins Day dance and a lavish Sweet Sixteen party. He and Gracie win a dance contest.
Along the way we meet billionaires, eccentric common folk, starving artists, the former world’s greatest assassin. There’s sibling rivalries, car crashes, a Beatles concert, the Miss America Pageant, greed, avarice, backstabbing and envy. The Button Situation contains humor, sarcasm, violence, strange scientific theories and an ending that is certain to haunt.
