It's football season! What team do you follow, Nicole? The Atlanta Falcons? Whichever team it is, let us know. The next game they have, you can move by however much they score. This advantage is calculated this upcoming week, but you may save the move itself to use whenever you wish.

Will it be 7? 10? 21?

Thanks, Joy! That must have come in while I was typing, lol.

Nicole | 681 comments My husband and I don’t follow any particular team or watch football at all actually. The closest association I have would be my cousin’s husband - we go to their house to “watch” the Super Bowl, aka: eat lots of snack food. So I’m going to go with his team, the 49ers. Looks like they play Thursday evening, I’ll have to remember to look up the final score!

Cat Stevens! I was OBSESSED with his music in my teens - that was before he found religion.

Thanks you Tom and Joanne for the trip down memory lane.

@JoAnne - Did Tom give you a playlist to listen to on your phone while working your library sale?

If only! I count books for vendors that come on opening day. I have one vendor that I have consistently counted for. Today her total was $673.00 - I am exhausted,

Joy D | 10081 comments I am ready for another roll, please! (2 dice)

My last book had over 100 taggers for literary fiction, which qualifies for a roll of 2 dice.

Sue | 2719 comments Joy D wrote: "I am ready for another roll, please! (2 dice)

Joy - I think the 100+ tag bonus is an extra 2 dice, in addition to your regular 1 die roll. So you should be able to roll 3 dice total.

message 268: by Rachel N. (new)

Rachel N. | 2241 comments The rules say: More than 100 taggers - roll two dice, so I'm going with 2 dice unless Anita chimes in that I'm wrong :-)

message 269: by Joy D (new)

Joy D | 10081 comments I don't think I've ever used this particular benefit before, so I have no idea. Two is fine and if Anita decides otherwise, I can always get another die roll later.

message 270: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15524 comments Hmm - I have won this one (or will once I finish my current subdue book) but of course have not yet used it. Very curious to hear from Anita on this as I also read it as you get 2 dice not 1. However, looking at the rule now - it could be you get 2 dice plus the original 1 and it makes sense:

If you land on a book that has the same tag as the monthly tag, you will get an extra move in conjunction with any future roll:
5-25 taggers - move forward 1 space
25-50 taggers - move forward 2 spaces
50-100 taggers move forward 5 spaces
More than 100 taggers - roll two dice
This award must be noted on your tracking thread at the time you land on the book that earns it. The book does not need to be completed/reviewed in the month with the tag . . .this bonus is triggered when you land on the book.

If reading a book with more than 100 taggers is supposed to give you a bigger move than below 100 taggers, then you do need to roll 3 dice --- because 1 dice plus 5 spaces could equal 11 and just giving an extra potential max of 12 only gives one more - hardly a reward.

In reading this over -- the lawyer in me who has been explaining reasoning to clients all day is very present!

I've totally forgotten about this rule! I'll have to check what I landed on this month. Mostly the books never fit but they might have this month.

I've had them all I think. The 2 roll reward for 100 tags is a Future reward, which can be held for later, and used on top of any other rolls. The reward for 50 tags is 5 spaces, so the reward for 100 tags has to be better. The average value of 2 rolls = 7.

Added - I agree with Theresa's comment about this. But it's always safest to wait for Anita.

I check Subdue books for monthly tag match as soon as I land on one to read, even if I think it a long shot. But I am moving through the train far more slowly than you!

Sometimes a book that should have matching tags doesn't - or not enough. Other times it has and I scratch my head. Imagine my surprise when I landed on Lolita in July and found it tagged 11x Adventure?!

WOW! What a good pick!

I had to laugh too - I was thinking about what team I would have chosen (as I don't watch football ever) and it would probably have been the New York Giants (as I live in NYC). My sister followed the Jets for years - as does George R.R. Martin - but they never seem to do well.

Well, it does pay to read and reread the rules once in a while...

Though it never helps me find any I missed ...

Tien (tiensblurb) | 1641 comments Thanks, Rachel!

Of course, I landed on a 5 after rolling a 6 last time and 5 before that LOL - so I'll be reading 2 books for this roll, again :p

I will also be using a prior advantage to move forward 1 spot as I'm really not in the mood for the one I landed on (and I've used up all my swaps!). All are noted on my thread.

I have already the book before and the book I landed on and the book after have become unavailable at my library. So I am moving back to #32. If you didn’t use them, they are not long gone. As the self-proclaimed queen of the tag rewards in this game, I’d be happy to take a look. It doesn’t matter if they were long ago. They are future rewards to use when you wish. I’m still working on rewards I earned in April.

Tell me which books might work and I’ll go back and figure it out for you. The rules about the end of the month are tricky, so if you matched a tag in April, but didn’t finish the book until May, you still get the reward.

Joanne, is this the book that isn’t available? Sons and Soldiers: The Untold Story of the Jews Who Escaped the Nazis and Returned with the U.S. Army to Fight Hitler

Hoopla has both the ebook and eaudio. They have no waiting lists, and you can borrow it for 3 weeks. You can borrow up to 5 per month on each library card. Check your library’s website for the link and instructions.
