25.4 - Kristina Simon's task: Sailing Abaco
Task created on behalf of Wanda

We have a boat! We are currently waiting out hurricane season on the hard in St. Augustine, Florida. Once the hurricane threat (and the heat) ease up, we'll be working on boat projects with an eye toward splashing the boat this winter. Come along for the adventure!

This is a two book task. Read one book from two different options.
Required: State the options.

Option 1: Our boat is a Seawind 1000. She's an Australian design that has traveled the world to end up in a Florida boatyard when Covid hit. For this option, read a book written by an author found on this list: Books by Australian Authors https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/3...
Books with multiple authors will work as long as least one of the author appears on the provided list
The book you read does not need to appear on the list, but the author must.
Required: State the page the author can be found on when you post.

Option 2: Our boat was built in 2000. She's 23 years old! For this option, read a book that was first published in 2000.

Option 3: The Seawind 1000 is a catamaran design, which means it has two hulls. For this option, read a book that is #2 in a series. The series name and number must be indicated in the GR title listing in grayscale parentheses following the title or grayscale italics above the title.

Option 4: One of the boat-projects-to-come will include a renaming ceremony. We've decided to name her Abaco, in homage to one of our favorite island chains. For this option, read a book with all the letters of ABACO found in any combination of the title/subtitle/series name/author's name.
Required: If using the series name, include the series title when you post.

Option 5: Once the boat is in the water, we plan to cruise the Gulf Coast (Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas), the Eastern Seaboard (Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia), and the Bahamas. For this option, read a book set at least 50% in one or more of the locations listed.
Required: If the setting is not obvious from the GR metadata or description, provide a reference to establish location.

Option 6: Starlink has opened up the possibilities of living a cruising lifestyle without having to give up paying work. It will allow us to connect not only with work, but also with family, friends, and (most importantly) my library's e-collections and Goodreads! For this option, read a book with an 8-letter compound word that is made up of two 4-letter words in the title/subtitle. Ex: starlink (star/link), sailboat (sail/boat), boatyard (boat/yard) hometown (home/town), bookmark (book/mark), barefoot (bare/foot)

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11204 comments Set Sail! (These work)

Option 1 - books with multiple authors will work as long as at least one author appears on the list. Example: Aurora Burning, Amie Kaufman is on the list

Kathy KS | 2378 comments Option 1- is a book by two authors OK? Especially if they are both from Australia?

Example:
Aurora Burning

The author must appear on the list given in the task option. Since Goodreads only lists one author in a multi-authored book, books with multiple authors will work as long as at least one of the authors appears on the list.

Fiona (Titch) Hunt (titch) Would Cauldrons Call - Kristen Proby be ok for Option 3 as it's the 2nd book in the series?

Many thanks

Just want to confirm that The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman would work since all the letters are in the title and author and it doesn t need to be in just one element of the book for option 4

The title and author can both be used. The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman works.

AB in Library
ACO in Cogman
