I read a book a few years ago/definitely in the past 5 years and I can’t remember its name.
Female main character. I think it was mostly women and they could all control some elements but I think they this was something they were learning to do once they showed that they could control one element- not everyone can and not everyone could control the same element.
I remember the FMC was imprisoned at one point and she became so distressed that she managed to create a whirlwind in the prison area and no one could go near her - don’t think she realised she could do this. It was a shock to all.
I think there’s a male love interest for the FMC who cares for her when she’s exhausted/injured.
There was a lot about the hills nearby and having to travel through them but it wasn’t safe. I think they took the dangerous way to avoid people though and maybe the hills were full of dangerous wildlife. I think someone used to use part of the hills to hide supplies.
I remember the girls were all in some kind of school or training area. They had to wear robes at one point. I think they were supposed to be weaponised but I’m not sure.
I remember someone (possibly FMC or her love) lived in a big house and they were from a well to do/powerful family.
