Drace (dracenines) | 7608 comments In the projects folder I'm working with a specific librarian to clean up issues with new reprint editions of books by the horror author Joel Lane. One of the issues requires a merge, and the librarian correcting the issues unfortunately is not familiar with merging, so I've started a thread here.

There are two paperback editions of the novel From Blue to Black by Joel Lane listed on Goodreads. One is valid, the other is not:

From Blue to Black - Valid edition (ISBN 9781914391033)
From Blue to Black - Invalid edition (ISBN 9781919143910)

The invalid edition's ISBN number is listed nowhere online except for Goodreads, and I am almost positive it was created by a typo. Here are both numbers next to each other, with bolding to demonstrate how similar they are:

Invalid: 9781919143910
Valid: 9781914391033

Because the numbers are so similar, I believe that whoever created this edition typed in the ISBN manually, but made a typo where they typed in 19 twice and were not able to enter the true last two digits of the paperback edition's correct ISBN as a result. As such, I believe that ISBN 9781919143910 and the real, existing paperback edition with a number listed on Amazon and the publisher’s website (9781914391033) need to be merged.

Once the two editions are merged, the single edition's information should be as follows:

Birmingham, early 1990s. Triangle are a cult act on the post-punk scene, led by brilliant and troubled vocalist Karl – a man haunted by past violence and present danger, torn between fame and oblivion, men and women, music and silence.

Triangle’s bass player, David, is struggling to make sense of Karl’s reality as the band start to make waves in the music scene and Karl starts to come apart in a blur of sex and drinking.

First published in 2000, Joel Lane’s debut novel From Blue to Black is a story of passion, blood and alcohol, broken strings and broken lives – a piercing voyage through our musical and political past that cuts to the bone.

Thank you. The new paperback edition is still missing Kerry Hadley-Pryce, however - could you please add her with the Introduction role?
