Auntie Terror (auntie_terror) | 16 comments I bought a new book (a rather new edition of "The Red Scholar's Wake" with the ISBN13 9781399601368), found it via the app with incomplete data, but couldn't add it. So, being a librarian, I went to the website to try and fix the book entry in hopes it would work then.

Turns out it doesn't show up on the website at all. So I thought it's a weird glitch in the app, nothing new, and tried to manually add it. Which then ended with the message that the ISBNs are taken by a book with the correct title which was marked "invalid".

How can this be fixed so that I can have the actual edition lying in front of me right now on my Goodreads shelves?

It's an ongoing import-bot bug. As a librarian, you can change the edition status from 'invalid' (or 'deleted') to 'public' in the book-edit page. When you try to add a book and get a message saying that the ISBN has already been taken by a book in invalid/deleted status, there's a link to that book—click through to that, change the status (and other problem data, if needed), and voilà! It lives again.

Auntie Terror (auntie_terror) | 16 comments Thanks so much!

That was a new one to me, and also my brain didn't even think of that link in the message (my bad).

Now I know how to fix this myself next time.

Liralen | 8223 comments No problem! It's a relatively new bug, and I didn't cotton on to that link either until someone posted instructions in this group, hah.
