Is anyone THAT dumb?

Am I the only one who had a problem with Natalie swallowing all of Zeke's lies? First she meets him while he's imprisoned and he lies to her about how much time is left in his sentence. Then he lies about how he's going to get his "big break" (vague) any day now, but in the meantime they have to run a few scams. I know people in love can be utter fools, but this was a bit much.
