Hi Genesis,I'd love to swap! I have a fantasy novel based on Ancient Egypt during the struggle against the Hyksos. It's called the Lotus Blooms, probably gonna be a book 1 of 3. I'm a quarter of the way done, so that's about 25K/100K. Progress is a bit stale right now, but I'm hoping your feedback could put some momentum back into the story. I’m hoping to get some quick general feedback on the first two chapters of my project. It's the first draft and fairly short. It's going to be a dark, psychological book, with some undertones of humor to keep it from getting too heavy.
To give a summary of the plot, it's about two brothers, Esikiel and Iden, who have grown up in a less than conventional household. Their mother is a neglectful alcoholic and their father runs a whorehouse which is just barely legal under their kingdom's laws. With Iden considered the disappointment of the family, he has no chance to participate in the 'family business,' which he doesn't mind at all.
Iden has plans to run off to college and pursue philosophy and psychology. Esikiel, however, plays the role of his father's perfect child. He agrees to start working the day he turns eighteen, doing whatever he's told, no questions asked. Little do his parents know, he has a plan to slip into control and change things for the better.. by whatever means necessary.
My goal is to finish drafting a new chapter every week or so, so in the event that we swap and you’d be willing to provide feedback for more content once I have it, we can discuss that as well. Although be aware that although these first two chapters I have at the moment are tame, soon enough there will be adult context (sex, drugs, abuse, etc.)- hence the 18+ in the topic name.
