At the end of the voting period the top three vote-getters will be the BOTMs. If we need to break a tie, we will use number of first place votes, or if that doesn't work, number of second place votes as a tie-breaker. If we need another tie-breaker, we will discuss in thread and add to rules in future.

Three Scottish books! And two Lynsay Sands! Wow. I think some of the other popular medievals people might have voted for weren't eligible for the vote this time (like A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught), so perhaps that's why it worked out this way.

Sadly I won't be joining any of these October reads. Not my cup of tea. Hopefully all those who voted will read and enjoy though. Happy reading, everyone.

I hope people voted for books that they haven't read yet. I feel like only 2 or 3 people are first-time readers for most books. I don't vote for a book unless I'm willing to read it. I think Maureen and I are the only ones who hadn't read The Highwsyman.

I think it's fine to vote for a book you've read if you plan to read it again for the BOTM and add some comments to the discussion. I hope people aren't just voting for books they like but have no plans to read with the BOTM. That would kinda be against the whole idea of a group read.

I only vote for books that I have or can get hold of. Most of the books that get voted for. Seem to be popular books. Which I have already read, or books I cannot find.
I try to find at least one book which is on Kindle unlimited to nominate, hoping this would get more people who have KU, to vote and read with the group.

On a survey, how many people vote for popular books instead of books they haven't read? it just seems like each month, I'll get to read maybe one book I haven't read.

I usually nominate one book I've never read and one that I previously enjoyed and would be willing to reread. When I vote, I start with the ones I want to read for the first time. If there are not three nominations I've never read, I will vote for a book I've read before as my third choice or even second in some months.

I always nominate books I have not read yet. I do not vote for books I've read unless I want to reread them. Some of us will have read popular books already, and some of us are looking forward to finding out why they are popular. I also pay no attention to who nominates a book. I just vote for the ones that look the most interesting to me and that I can access at the library or on KU. Usually there is more than 3 that fall in that category.
I plan to read all three of this months winners (for the first time). It's just going to be a little tricky with timing because I will be traveling at the end of Sept. and first half of Oct. I will have to wait till I get back to access them from the library.

I do tend to nominate books I've read before, but only if 1) they fit the trope well 2) I think others might enjoy reading them, and 3) I'm happy to reread them/add comments to the discussion.

I don't nominate books I haven't read yet as often, because I don't really know how good they are or whether they really fit the trope.

When voting, I usually have a quick look at blurbs and reviews of books on the list before I vote. Quite often I've already read the popular books, and I like it when I discover a new-to-me author that looks good.

Sometimes when books I voted for didn't make the cut, I will go ahead and read them myself anyway. I've discovered quite a few enjoyable books via the BOTM over the last few years since I've been a member of this group.

Jan, I tend to read the losers than winners. The same books that are are always nominated Julia Garwood (#1 fav), Lisa Klepas, Tessa Dare, etc. They are all great authors, but everybody has read them. oh well! Things will not change.

So I often read the other books. I owe thanks to other nominated books that didn't make the cut.

I totally agree that the nominations are a great place to make new discoveries. I add to my tbr every month. It's so out of control LOL!! I wouldn't have it any other way.

Definitely a place to find new authors or books. I found a new author that I go to, when I am on a reading slump. Wendy Vella.
I also read each nominations description of the story and found books I would like to read.
