In a world where the children of the gods inherit their powers, a descendant of the Greek Fates must solve a series of impossible murders to save her sisters, her soulmate, and her city.

Descendants of the Fates are always born in threes: one to weave, one to draw, and one to cut the threads that connect people to the things they love and to life itself. The Ora sisters are no exception. Io, the youngest, uses her Fate-born abilities as a private investigator in the half-sunken city of Alante.

But her latest job leads her to a horrific discovery: somebody is abducting women, maiming their life-threads, and setting the resulting wraiths loose in the city to kill. To find the culprit, she must work alongside Edei Rhuna, the right hand of the infamous Mob Queen—and the boy with whom she shares a rare fate-thread linking them as soul mates before they’ve even met.

But the investigation turns personal when Io's estranged oldest sister turns up on the arm of her best suspect. Amid unveiled secrets from her past and her growing feelings for Edei, Io must follow clues through the city’s darkest corners and unearth a conspiracy that involves some of the city’s most powerful players—before destruction comes to her own doorstep.

I'm into Chapter 9 and it's confusing so far, I've had to start taking notes on the different 'other-borns' and what they do. I'm enjoying it but not sure whether I'll keep this gorgeous edition.

Hmmmmm I think I'm giving this a 3.75 star. I never give quarter ratings but this needs it I think lol. I have to admit I was anticipating this one quite a lot because of how STUNNING my Fairyloot edition is and how much I knew I'd enjoy the reading experience. And this was a good read, although it felt a little younger than I was expecting. I didn't realise it was a mystery going in, and that's on me, but I don't love mysteries. I also had to make a little note to keep track of the terms and their abilities. It started to go a bit over my head towards the end but that's just because I'm lazy when it comes to remembering mysteries. I think I'll continue the series! I really loved the sister dynamic in this one, it felt so true to how some families are

Totally understand! It really gripped me for some reason, but the infodump was definitely a lot. I'm looking forward to the next one!

I'm not even sure if I will continue lol who knows

ellen (ellencaulfield) | 962 comments I'm so behind on my reading due to work :( I'm trying to finish up the books I started this month so I don't bring them into next month. It's been a very slow reading month. Hopefully, finishing this book will get back my mojo.

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53680 comments Mod
I totally feel that

Danique van Dijk (daniquevdijk_) | 7803 comments Mod
Yeah very relatable! I’ve only read four books this month, it hasn’t been great :/

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 53680 comments Mod
I've done 12 so far which is my second-lowest month of the year, mostly because I had a DNF that took me 6 days lol (I do count DNFs though). Also I've had some pretty big books. Hoping to get another 1-2 read this month but honestly we'll see.
