If caught she could plead fear for her life...she was shook, pulled over, thought she locked herself out, they came after her, she fled, she defended herself. It's her word against yours lol...cough cough, I mean them, those dead ones- and dead men tell no tales. I say she gets off easy. What jury would convict poor Madison for defending herself? Hmm..I'll have to look at that again :)

I'm not sure if it was mentioned in the previous book if Brittany knows what Madison has done and if she does do you think she would say anything to the authorities. Richie was the only one that broke from the brat pack.

I believe you are all right. Madison divulges partial murders, but holds back the full monte from Britt...the closest family-like support she has left in the world. I think she didn't want to disappoint her. I'll check again.

Well the name that she was given was taken from mythology. That is why I brought up cults. Either that or it's a family thing.

Stories Poppa Francis would have heard as a child, and his father, and grandfather, who immigrated from Prussia. I wonder if the cult clan founders used the legend of the Valkyries as inspiration. Hmm. The Vanguards? What about them? Wow, book 3 has a lot of explaining to do! :)
Hi all! I just finished read both of CJ Heigelmann’s books, Can’t Hide What’s Inside and Can’t Stop What’s Inside. I am anxiously awaiting to read more of Madison’s story. If I can’t get into a book within the first few pages, there is no sense continuing. These books pulled me right in from the start, and was so happy I had a second book ready when I finished with the first. Great characters and story lines!!

I am hoping the 3rd book explains her family a little more so we can understand where all this craziness came from. Really curious about Madison's growing up years. For some reason I think Madison and hubby are going to be asked to be group leaders hmmmm.
Poppa Francis has commissioned them. Marching orders given. Punishment for their failure is implicit. Bring her back...alive.
How about funny or laughable instances from the book. I must admit, I had to add a few comedic interludes during serious moments at times. For example. When Madison visits Alex the first time and calls for a cooling off/I'm moving away period and he tells her about the attempt on his life. Madison says she won't allow them to hurt him. He says, "What are you going to do, make them lust to death?" Typically smarty pants attitude and under-estimation of a woman's ability...to bring that heat. Well she brought the heat to Ricci...leaving him departed from this world, holding the very thing that put him in that final situation. I laughed at that myself! 🤗

Poppa Francis: Robert Duvall (His age fits, and he never really played the antagonist before..except the Great Santini.)
Actually I think Spader is growing on me as Poppa Francis. I had never considered that.
Gary Busey as Poppa just looking at him you know he's crazy. He doesn't even have to open his mouth.

How about James Woods as Poppa.

I was really impressed to see the emotional maturity from the first book to the second book for the main character.

There is a big difference between the BTK killer who was a deacon at his chuch to Madison who was trying to survive life. Although Madison had a special gift from her family, she did not use that gift to further the cult like family ideology. Yet, Madison cared for her child and wanted her life to be better than hers. That in a nutshell is the American dream!

I feel the same way as you do with my feelings towards Madison. To me her Mr. Hyde comes out when someone close to her is in danger some way. I would really like to know a little bit more of her family background. Did her mother do the same as she did and that's why the father had to be be killed b/c he wouldn't put up with it. Would she have been different if her father was still around???
