SOLVED. YA Sci-Fi-ish novel from mid 1970's. Main character & extended family can communicate through the minds of some people incl. Ashley (doesn't know them in real life; Ashley is the family name). [s]

This will be a stretch because I remember so few details.

Involves a character that can communicate with at least some other people through their minds. Several people from the same extended family have this capability. There is one person who the main character communicates with sometimes but doesn't know who it is in real life. The character knows the other person only by the name Ashley because that is the family name. Late in the story they meet in person, it might be at an old farm house or old family homestead.

That's about all I remember.
