Should I read the books "The Summer I Turned Pretty" or just watch the show?

I hear everyone say the show is better, which doesn't make the books bad, but are they worth it?

I read the first book and I wasn't a big fan. The show seems interesting enough, but I've also only watched a couple episodes. Normally I am a YA fan, but I just couldn't get into this one.

The books are worth it! But my opinion is more nostalgia based. I grew up reading the series… it fit my age at the time and I ate it up lol. When the show was released I chose to listen to the book instead just to remind myself of the plot. I prefer them *now* in audio format from Audible because they’re voiced by the actors.

I have read the first book and I am about to buddy read the second and third book but I wasn't a fan of the first one so hopefully the second and third book change that. I absolutely HATED Conrad.
