Ace-safe standalone recs?

Hello, I’ve just spent a year reading all of Rick Riordans saga’s and need a break with some good standalone books (and a break from the constant sausage fest).
I’m fine for romance, notsomuchsex… I like books with a lot of story. I like genres like fantasy and sci-fi, a bit of horror and thriller too. I’ve struggled with overly historical books likes regency romances. I just read Fairy Tale by Stephen King and enjoyed it.
Idk. I’m open to suggestions

The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells are sci-fi thrillers and really good! No romance and mc is a robot and aro/ace
