Both ISBNs are valid, why do you think one is "a mistake"?

I still don't understand why you think one of them is correct and the other is wrong.
It is very common for a publisher to publish more than one (seemingly identical) edition at the same publication date. They might be aiming at different markets.For the ISBN to be wrong you will need the author or the publisher to state they never published that ISBN.
Just so you know, deleting a valid edition is against policy. I truly hope you were not deleting editions with valid ISBN without a very good reason.
