1. Was this an acceptable standalone read, or is the rest of the series necessary?
2. What were your favorite parts of the world building? And least favorite?
3. What did you think of hte way the magic intertwined with world history, different cultures, and pertaining to different world leaders? Too often, magical worlds are hidden from the mainstream characters in the novel world, so what did you think of the fully intertwined magical/nonmagical world in this novel?

5. What did you think of Siti and Hadia both? Their different relationships with Fatma? Their backstories? Their overall roles in the story?
