Betty Bennett (bettyannbennett) | 3 comments Hello! I'm Betty Ann Bennett, and I've recently ventured into the world of writing. In about two weeks, I'll be seeking five people who are interested in reading and providing feedback on the first five chapters of my novel. To make the reading experience as enjoyable as possible, I'd like to take some time to edit and format the content. If you're interested, please let me know. Take a look at the blurb below for a sneak peek.

"In the gripping psychological thriller "Hidden Truths, Silent Lies," we enter a dark and twisted world where justice takes on a chilling form. Emily Miller, a woman haunted by her past, emerges as a vigilante serial killer known as " The Tormentor." Driven by her traumatic childhood experiences of enduring abuse at the hands of her father, Emily is on a relentless quest for retribution against abusive men. However, her own husband, Detective James Miller, is leading the investigation to capture The Tormentor, unaware that his wife is the one he seeks.
As Emily delves deeper into her quest, the city is paralyzed with fear as the body count rises. Each meticulously planned murder targets a man who has tormented, oppressed, or destroyed the lives of others. Consumed by her thirst for justice, Emily becomes increasingly elusive, leaving behind minimal evidence and baffling the authorities at every turn. The media labels her a cold-blooded killer, but for Emily, every life she takes is a painful reminder of her own scars and a tragic reminder of what could have been.
Detective James Miller, committed to his duty and devoted to his wife, finds himself caught in an inescapable web of emotions. As the investigation intensifies, he uncovers unsettling clues that lead him closer to the truth, raising suspicions about the killer's motives and leaving him torn between his love for Emily and his sense of justice. With his colleagues closing in, James races against time to protect the woman he adores and bring an end to The Tormentor’s reign of terror, unaware of the explosive secret lurking within his own household.
"Hidden Truths, Silent Lies" is the first installment in a gripping two-part series that explores the blurred boundaries between right and wrong, justice and vengeance. As the complex characters grapple with their own demons, readers are taken on a suspenseful journey filled with unexpected twists, deep-rooted secrets, and a riveting exploration of the depths of the human psyche. Will Emily's thirst for revenge consume her? Can James uncover the truth before it tears his world apart? The answers lie within the chilling pages of this electrifying thriller."

Dale Lehman (dalelehman) | 380 comments That's a well-written description. Only thing is, it's too long for a blurb (in my opinion, anyway). It certainly won't fit on the back cover of a print book. But trimming it shouldn't be too hard, because you have everything you need in there.

I wouldn't mind giving the sample chapters a read, although if you're on a short time schedule, I may not get to it that fast. (Then again, my saying so might guarantee that I do!) You can send me a private message if you like.

This is just a rough draft! I've completed a full rough summary of the novel and I'll be rewriting and expanding most of it. I understand it's a bit lengthy for a blurb, but I wanted to get this posted, and that was the premise I used to write my novel. I appreciate your input, though!

I'll send you a private message, but it'll take me at least 2 weeks to reach the desired length and also search for any grammatical or other errors in the prologue through chapter 5.

Okay, no problem. Whenever you're ready, just message me.
