Review: With all that Greg goes through in these books, I'm wondering how he's going to end up sane when he gets older. Some of what he faces is downright ridiculous. While I like the books, I hate Manny's character. He's not cute or funny. He's an annoying pain. Although, I don't have a kid brother so I am little judge of how they are. Still, you'd think his mother would have clobbered him after what he did in this book and why. I liked the book though and all the ups and downs Greg continually faces. It makes for a fun and silly read.

Review:
This is book 3 in the series Land of the Lone Star. The girls have moved from the coast into inland Texas. Cassie Lowe had a dangerous marriage with a scoundrel who is now dead and she is widowed with a young daughter, Gloria, but she is greatful to have. Bound by fear and mistrust, she feels incapable of opening her heart again. Tyler has demons of his own. Still haunted by the knowledge that his father was murdered by Comanches, he puts all his focus on reclaiming his inheritance: the ranch stolen from his family as punishment for his fighting for the Confederacy. With his affection for Cassie growing, he longs to provide a home and future for her and her daughter. Challenged by mounting hardships, can Carissa and Tyler preserve their fledgling love in a land as unforgiving and vibrant as the people who call it home?

How to Raise an Honest Rabbit by Amy Lane
How to Raise an Honest Rabbit (Granby Knitting, #2) by Amy Lane

Rating: ★★★★★

Oh the feels!!! Jeremy just about broke my heart in two. His fears and his anxiety all bundled up in the body of a man who doesn't really know how to just be. I was with him in all his massive word spillage just to cover up how uncomfortable he really was. I just wanted to cuddle the poor man until he felt safe.

Having met Jeremy and Aiden in book one I wasn't expecting the depth of Jeremy's backstory. We knew the basics of his life, that he was an ex-con and how he'd come to work for Craw, but the actualities of his life and his inner monologue hooked me so fast. I really appreciated that this story took us through it all slowly. We got the entire introduction to Jeremy and Aiden before the two year jump to catch us up to the present. It really allowed for such a well of understanding. I understood why Jeremy was so jumpy and struggled so hard to accept that Aiden could really be for him.

Yes, it's true, I'm officially obsessed with Jeremy. It's not that I don't like Aiden. In fact I think he's perfect for Jer. I mean he's got so much patience and goodness in him. He understands his man and knows exactly what Jeremy needs to be able to accept everything in his own time. Once he was sure Jeremy really was gay and the possibility existed for them to be together Aiden wasn't going to let anything stop him. But Jeremy really touched me. I loved his need to horde things. I completely understand his want to not ever use his gifts, to hide away those gloves because they were perfect and treasured. You know it's never quite as perfect once you use it, wear it. Again, I just wanted to cuddle the man so hard!

I also really appreciated the closure brought about at the end of this story. I wasn't expecting it and it was a nice little twist to put a final "that was my old life and I'm choosing my new" for Jeremy. Of course I'm hoping it leads to the next book. ;) "Johnny" sounds do for some happy of his own.

Love this story! It's going on my favorites shelf and I'll be back to re-read it again soon. Straight shot to the heartstrings for me!

Review:I liked this book. But there was something missing.
Marybeth and Darin are best friend from when they were 7 years old. They are in love with each other, but no one is going to tell the other.
They for six last years are fuck-buddies, but Marybeth doesn’t want something more. She thinks that because she can’t have kids, she isn’t good enough for Darin.
Most of the book Marybeth tried to push Darin away. And Darin wanted to make her marry him.

Third Time's a Charm (Holland Springs, #3) by Marquita Valentine
May 14, 2015 3 1/2 stars

I have enjoyed all of the Holland Springs books so far. Sasha and Rose have a lot of baggage they are dealing with. Sasha hasn’t proven to be the most reliable or trustworthy person in Rose’s eyes. She has a lot to deal with between her family business, raising her sister’s daughter and figuring a way to a pay taxes that she has very little time to pay.
Sasha has always been attracted to Rose. He knows he is no good for her, however he can’t help himself. He is sent to Holland Springs in order to find where the real spring is, and to make sure she has to give up her land or sell it. It seems like all of the big wigs in town are willing to screw out of her land in order to bring business into the town.
Once Sasha has insinuated himself into her life, he realizes how much more he wants from her and cannot stand to lie to why he is there. Even though he does tell her some of the truth, he leaves out key information. When she finds out the whole truth of what he did, she tells him to leave and has to find some way to deal with the fallout. At the eleventh hour she receives unexpected help from her selfish mother to save her family’s land.
After a few months of being separated, Sasha’s cousin decides to play matchmaker and gets them back together on Christmas Eve. It was really sweet after they both let their guards down and are able talk things out.

Review: I liked this book well enough, but the subplot between Dawn and Seth drew my attention a little more than the main story did. I'm curious where it will eventually lead. Kane and Sherra also wore me out in their constant bickering and making up. The bickering though got on my nerves after a while. It worked for the story, but I still wanted to scream in frustration. The two are both well-developed and likable, but the back and forth between them and Sherra herself kept going through on her own in the story soon had me fearing I was going to crash into myself. I did enjoy the book, but the similarities with the previous ones is setting a bad example. Can't the Breeds and their mates find some other way to kill each other while they're realizing they love each other to pieces? There is one glaring problem though. (view spoiler) It stuck out badly for me. A quick and hot read either way though.

Blind Faith (Sin Brothers, #3) by Rebecca Zanetti (green, black, white)

This is the fourth book in the Sin Brother series. So far this is my favorite book. Nate found out in the last book that Audrey was pregnant five years ago. There is a lot of history between them. The biggest is that she broke his heart in order to protect him.
I was a little sad to find out that she miscarried. I really wanted one of the brothers to have a child, especially since it’s something all them desperately wants.
With Audrey in DC working on funding for the commander, it comes to light that not everyone wants the commander to succeed in his illegal experiments. A new group comes in the forefront. Actually I liked this spin.
Audrey is in a hard position. She loves her mother, however she wants to commander to pay for everything he has done. She has a hard time holding her mother responsible for her actions. She sees her mother being manipulated by the commander instead of what she really is.
When the brothers escaped five years, Audrey was caught in the explosion. Over the last five years she has gone through surgeries and rehabilitation. The last appointment she went to, she finds out that she is fourteen weeks pregnant because her mother and the commander wanted to see if she could successfully carry Nate’s child. She definitely has mixed feelings about this. First it’s Nate’s child so she happy about that, but at the same time she feels violated since she didn’t have any say in the matter. She is also very scared what will happen with their son after he is born. She knows the commander will not let her go and raise him.
Nate finally has something to live for other than his brothers. He has been so concerned about them, that he doesn’t care what happens to him. I loved it when he decided that he needs to find a way to deactivate the kill chips and survive for Audrey and his son.

I'm hopelessly in love with this series! I love the blend of humor and action with the romance. There's a wonderful balance between all the elements and of course I just adore Dex and Sloane.

This story was really great for getting a little bit more backstory on Sloane and his past as a First Gen. WE never know much about what he went through, but finally we're getting a little peak and he certainly didn't have an easy time of it. He carries around a lot of guilt for things that weren't really his fault. I love how Dex deals with the situation, using his crazy antics to often diffuse some of the tension surrounding Sloane. It's not always easy and Sloane often tries to shut Dex out. But these two are slowly finding their way as a couple. I like the developing nature of these two as a couple. It's not all slam bam thank you ma'am. There are pasts to be worked through and hurdles to surmount.

Of course finally getting a little closure with Mr. Nasty himself was great too. There's bombings, and plenty of police action to make your little suspenseful adventurers heart swoon. The Order is really starting to stir up some drama, but discovering exactly what they're up to only opens up more questions and the potential for trouble for THIRDS. There's all sorts of little dramas bubbling with the team, that are I'm sure going to lead to fantastic places, but at the heart I just love seeing Dex bring Sloane out of his shell and the intricacies of this world.

Such a great read! Can't wait to get to the next book in the series!

Review: Another good installment and another sign of Greg's hilarious attempts to better himself and coming out of it worse. It's such a silly thing to watch/read, even as you want to yell at him to run as fast as he can in the other direction to avoid the disaster you know is coming. I love the drawings in these books. They add so much to the story. I think my favorite in this one is Greg's exhaustion during the back-to-school clothes shopping. I can understand this. I get exhausted simply thinking about those who live to try on clothes for hours on end. Ranks right up there with shoe shopping.

Ora (oeamis) week 10 spot 81 1st in series
Alex (Cold Fury Hockey, #1) by Sawyer Bennett
May 23, 2015
4 stars

Alex has a lot anger he holds onto. He is one of the best players on the team and yet he hates hockey. That has to do with how much his father “trained” him, abused more like it. The management staff is tired of his bad attitude and wants him to change his image. They decided that he will be the spokesperson for the new outreach project.
Sutton is a drug counselor who was chosen to work on this project with Alex. He makes a complete ass of himself when he first meets her trying to pick her up. It was funny to see his reaction when he realize that they would be working together. I love Sutton. She slowly starts to break down Alex’s walls and starts to get him to care about his team and becoming friendlier.
Both have a lot of baggage. The only difference is that Sutton has dealt with her issues and Alex hasn’t. He does not know how to deal with these emotions that keep surfacing because of Sutton. It’s more than his feelings towards her, she has gotten him to love hockey again and willing to work with other players with their game.
When he starts to lose his focus, his father is able to convince him it is because of Sutton. Since she hasn’t been in his life that long, he feels that she has been in his life the shortest it won’t be that hard to cut her out. What he realizes is that he messed things up bad and he should have put her number one in everything he does.
One of the things I loved about Sutton is that she is very honest and doesn’t want to play games. When one of Alex’s friends want to help get them back together, I love how she tells him that Alex doesn’t need to grovel. Alex feels that she deserves some type of gesture to show that he is sorry and that she really is important to him. I t was a very sweet and romantic gesture that she loved along with all of the fans.

Ok this was just too cute! I really really loved this book. It was a different take on shifters and made for a really fun little read. It doesn't deviate too strongly from the usual shifter tropes, but it's just enough to make it interesting and unique in it's own little way. Light-hearted and fun with just enough depth to keep you interested. Really great start to a new series. I can't wait to get to read more.

I'm a sucker for the cute and sweet stories when there's some really emotions and solid writing between them and this story definitely packs that in spades. Tim is starting life over again. His life has been his horticulture, little did he know his business partner was filing patents on all of his hybrids under his own name. Now Tim's on his own and having to start from scratch without any claim on his old work. At least he's got a place to stay at the vacation home of an old client for whom he's still trying to develop the perfect rose. Lance has been sheriff in this sleepy little town since his father passed. He feels it's his duty to protect his pack from any danger that may try to get it's toehold in their town. The new man walking in the door and smelling of pot has Lance's senses twitching. The strange thing is his inner collie just wants to cuddle with the guy, not investigate him for starting a pot farm.

Lance was too cute in his inner turmoil. Mr. Tall Dark and Broody just doesn't know what to do with Tim brings out his inner puppy. And he really was darn cute when he was trailing after Tim as chance. I loved how Tim brought out that playful side in him. Of course Lance's mother's antics had me giggling like a mad woman too. Lily is so bound and determined to help her son out she's a little mini tornado.

I really enjoyed the blend of animal senses in this story. There something really interesting about the idea that some of these characters were animals first and only received the "spark" after years of devotions to their owners. I liked how they leaned more towards the animalistic side and were just starting to get the human traits bleeding in. There were questions I had (like how did they know how to read/write, do they have to learn it after? etc), and I hope some of those questions get answered in later stories where the MC is someone newly quickened and not someone born as a quickened.

Still this was really so much fun and I'm happy I took a chance on this as a random read. Totally worth it and put a happy smile on my face. :)
