Eric | 13 comments I am sure this is the wrong place but I just cant find my answer anywhere.
How do I mark my books as 'owned'? I see that I can add a column to my bookshelf list to show books that I own but I dont see where to actually tell the system that I own it.
When I first started using Goodreads to keep up with my library there seemed to be a place to do this but for what ever reason I can no longer figure out how to set it.
Any help is appreciated.

Eric

Tina (batesland) underneath the book shelves it should say create a new tag or bookshelf. if you create a new tag, you should be able to mark them there by creating a tag owned ..

Eric | 13 comments So I take it that means the site has removed the previous ability to mark a book as owned?
If I create an additional book shelf (I dont see anything about a 'tag') then I wont see that book marked as owned in the sorting section for each of the other book shelves.
I had thought about creating the additional shelf but I was hoping there was a better option.

Eric | 13 comments Ok, I finally found what I was looking for.

This was in the help files from Jan. 2020:

"Please keep in mind that Goodreads is no longer actively supporting the owned books functionality and that marking your owned books this way will not reflect in any export file of your shelves. As an alternative, we'd suggest adding an owned books custom shelf to record your collection."

This is pretty disappointing since I started using GoodReads way back to catalog my library.

Guess it's time to move on.

You can add an owned shelf to see in place of read/to-read/currently reading (ie an exclusive shelf). GR has undergone many changes since Amazon took over, and more since they shut down Shelfari which they owned first and then let go when they decided GR was more profitable to them.
