I really enjoyed this book, partly because so few books are written about GenX characters. There are so few of us that our experiences aren't often reflected in fiction.

This is a story of a life-long friendship between Sam Masur, Sadie Green and Marx Wantanbe. They meet in college and go on to create a successful video game empire.

The real story is the interwoven lives of these three friends. But the video game aspect was a huge part of the story - and honestly a huge part of the entire GenX experience. I recall some of the games they reference in the book and had a bit of nostalgia reading about them in context.

I just learned a very disappointing fact about this novel from the designer of a game that was ripped off with no credit in this novel even though there were many other credits at the back of the book.

And Zevin didn't even admit it until she was called on the carpet for her in the press.
