The Guide by Peter Heller - 3 1/2 stars rounded up to 4

Jack (from the previous book "The River") has been hired by an exclusive resort known as Kingfisher Lodge. Nestled in the woods of Colorado it offers stunning views, outdoor activities, saunas and massages, and most of all, fishing. Jack is the newest guide at the lodge and his first customer is a well-known singer, Alison K, who fortunately knows quite a bit about the sport of fishing. During their days out on the river they discuss the stringent rules of the lodge management and both report hearing the screech of what they believe may have been a great horned owl during the night. With a bit of sleuthing, Jack and Alison begin to believe there is something sinister going on. Surveillance cameras seem to be everywhere and they have been warned not to get too close to the lodge property boundaries with surrounding fence lines. Once they find out the truth they are not only horrified but in imminent danger of losing their lives.

I can't say I was thrilled with the reveal but I do so enjoy Heller's story telling. He takes the reader right into the icy river with him and points out the beauty of the Colorado landscape.
