SEEN | 75 comments How to get yourself out of the reading slump? I've been struggling with it for a while, I HATE THAT. Help me if you know how to get out of it! :(

message 2: by Vale (new)

Vale | 14 comments It happens sometimes, no worries. It also depends on the latest reads that have put you on a slump (happened to me).
I'll give you some great recsss if you want, what are you in the mood for?

Oh no. I hate reading slumps and I'm in one too (I haven't finished a book in 9 days).

Mirthe | 10 comments Reading slumps happen to the best of us. For me it always works to re-read a book that I love (usually a short one). Or just a book where you dont really have to think much yk

Ebony Rae (ebonyisreading) (ebonyisreading) | 192 comments I tend to find switching books to romance that’s an addictive writing style.

My top rec for reading slumps is November 9 by Colleen hoover. It’s not a 5 star read but an absolute page turner.

Claire Louise | 3 comments I read a book that I found incredibly disappointing and that sent me into a slump. I just couldn’t be bothered or motivated to choose another for a good week or so. It never happened to me before. It was like a switch went off in my head. Then one day I just happened to pick up a book lying around and I just started reading it automatically and the slump was over. Another book will take your fancy and sometimes without you thinking about it!

Izy | 19 comments GUYS! If you find yourself in a slump, write on pieces of paper all the books on your TBR list, and put them in a pretty jar. Shake ‘em up and read what you pick ;)

SEEN | 75 comments Thank you guys <3
I'm trying to get out of it ASAP, Any recommendations you give me, it's welcome.

hamnairl | 67 comments Try reading a light cute romance where you don’t have to use your mind at all. That’s what helps me

message 12: by Saahithi (new)

Saahithi | 11 comments I usually just read something mindless/easy to comprehend. Not mindless per se but yknow like easy names, simple wordbuilding, etc. ACOTAR def got me out of my post-exam season reading slump but just reading something easy to comprehend

Angel | 426 comments If you can, buy a new book. I like to use thrift books.com theyre amazing and the anticipation of waiting for your new book to get delivered gets you all excited to read it. Could help maybe!

message 14: by anna (new)

anna near (annanear) | 129 comments i binge booktube and booktok when i get into slumps. watching movie adaptations to my fav books usually works too.

message 15: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa | 72 comments I was in a huge reading slump for a while and what ended up helping me was taking myself to a bookstore and just taking my time browsing books and letting myself be drawn to whatever I found interesting. Eventually I let myself pick whatever book I wanted, regardless of my huge TBR pile, and ended up reading that book which turned out to be great and now I’m out of my reading slump!
Said book? Dry by Jarrod Shusterman and Neal Shusterman

message 16: by rosesrded (new)

Thank you <3

message 20: by Emma (new)

Emma Skapetis | 32 comments Oh no. I'd suggest rereading an old favourite. That can really help because you've read it before so you don't have to concentrate on it.

message 21: by June (new)

June | 25 comments Might be weird but sometimes what helps me is watching a show where one of the main/side characters reads a lot, like Gilmore Girls.

message 22: by Amy (new)

Amy | 29 comments find cute light romances, ones that you can easily speed through, and while u try to get yourself into reading, put your phone far away from you so you don’t tend to pick it up

message 23: by Mpia (new)

Mpia | 120 comments something that always manages to get me out of my reading slumps is reading thrillers, mystery, horror, detective fiction and/or fanfiction

message 24: by victoria.b (new)

victoria.b | 14 comments the inheritance games is really fast paced if you're looking for something new

Rylee (ryleereadsromance) | 1 comments Something that always helps me when I'm in a reading slump is going back to a book i know i love and re-reading it and even sometimes re-adding some annotations, this helps me kinda get back into my groove.

b r y n n e y p o o | 88 comments it’s ok babe, it happens to the best of us🫶🏽🫶🏽 I’d recommend a short fast paced book like the Inheritance Games or Better Than the Movies. I hope this helps❤️

SEEN | 75 comments Thank you guys :(

message 29: by Vale (new)

Vale | 14 comments When I get in a reading slump, I usually re-read my favorite series (addicted/Calloway sisters series).

message 30: by sina (new)

sina (sinasbooknook) | 64 comments Reread my favorite books or scenes! If I already know I like/enjoy the content, it makes it easier to read and takes less brain power. Then I get excited about reading!

message 31: by sina (new)

sina (sinasbooknook) | 64 comments Or take a few days to not think about reading at all. Keep your brain preoccupied with something else to take the pressure / expectation off reading for a bit then try again in a few days when you’ve had a real break from it

message 32: by Maeg (new)

Maeg | 39 comments What I do to get out of a reading slump is by rereading my favorite books. I also read books that aren't that long and something that's fast-paced so that it sets me back in the mood to keep reading. I hope this helps.

message 33: by SEEN (new)

SEEN | 75 comments I've read 10 pages today :) It's progress! Thx guys <3
