1st book in a series

Rating: 3 Stars
Finished: 5/29/15
I enjoyed this book a lot more than I expected, which is always a super awesome surprise. I love sports romances and although this one was a tad light on the sports, it was heavy on the romance and that was awesome. The best parts of this book focused around Trey. He was the perfect hero and brought out the best in Cassie after she met her family. He also shined in scenes with his friends/teammates Josiah and Stephen. Trey was the reason I kept reading this book.
Cassie, in the beginning, was great. I loved her spunk and her fun nature, but once she meets her dad and his family, she started to lose all that. Even when she was with Trey she was holding things back because of the rules and expectations that were put on her by the evil Jordan family. Her stepmother was the worst human ever and I hope someday she gets what she deserves. Her father was a jerk for the majority of the book and I don’t know how or why Cassie stuck around after the midway point in the book. Her sisters weren’t enough to keep me around even if I had always wanted siblings.
I absolutely loved Trey and would love to read more about him. I will probably pick up other books by Jeanette Murray, especially ones in this series, just because I hope to have more Trey time.

Although this is book 1 of the Dream Hunters series, it follow along with the dark hunters, which I have enjoyed. I can’t really say if I will continue with the dream hunters or not. I didn’t much care for the supporting characters or the premise of this book. All it all, it was an enjoyable read but one that I don’t think I would ever consider re-reading.
The dream-hunters were mentioned in previous books of dark-hunters, but I felt that the reader did not gain any additional information for the beginning of this series. If you have not read any of the dark-hunters books, the details may be enough for you.

Review: This was a dark, twisted read, sprinkled with a little humor on top. I loved the writing, sometimes it felt a little slow but otherwise really interesting.
We learn who the murderer was early in the book and then we see the flashbacks of the characters as children. I really liked the flashbacks because they added depth to the characters and we could see the motives behind their actions. From the moment he arrived in the scene, the murderer always talked about murder and I wanted to scream at the others to realise that he is a sociopat and they should stop giving him stuff. We got to see what his childhood was and why he turned out that way, but he was a sociopat then too. What he did to that cat... He is maybe one of the scariest villians out there because he isnt just the typical fantasy villian in a magical world, but he is a real life threat and I can see myself easily becoming his victim. When we saw all the times he misread Mirrens intentions I was so mad that I wanted to hit something.
Some of Iggs powers were some were not. Throughout the book we see all these people saying hurtful things to him and sharing their deepest secrets and desires. Sometimes it was funny but other times, like with his family, it was heartbreaking. However there were the other powers that were cool. I really liked Iggs character, even though he got a little suicidle at the end.
Overall, I really liked this book. It was an interesting read. My favorite characters have to be Ig and Terry.

I will be finished and will post close to midnight central time...
Internet should be good

A Duty To The Dead

I liked the setting and the setup for the character of Bess Crawford. The mystery itself was sort of annoying, I really disliked the premise of the disabled, unloved step child sent away. And the resolution of the mystery was also unsatisfying. I also question that Bess really would go about poking into this, I understand she felt a sense of "duty" but it didn't really feel like it would happen this way.
But it's entertaining and moves along.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. I love second chance romances. I love watching two characters that knew each other before reconnect and find that the love they shared years ago is still burning bright. Katie (Katherine) and Tom’s story is filled with betrayal and misunderstandings and it was difficult to watch them fight what they had because they both still thought what they knew, what they had always believed, was the whole story. But it was also kind of fun to watch them fight it. The sexual tension between them was off the charts.
What I also loved about this book is that Katie and Tom’s romance was not the only focus of the book. There was a lot going on around them in regards to the team and some of the team personnel. I loved getting to revisit the couples from previous books and I think I know who is going to be the focus of the next book and I’m super excited about it. The set up for that was pretty sweet. I felt horrible for Trey throughout this book, but I’m also really glad he got the wake-up call he needed.
I really enjoy this series and I cannot wait for more. I’m hoping I’m right about the next book, although part of me thinks there’s a chance another one of the players will get a book first and I’d be okay with that because the poor guy deserves some happiness, but then again, it might be too soon.

Review: I loved this book. I love Jennifer Echols writing. I have to say that I liked the first book more than this one, but this one is still in my favorites list. I could relate to the characters and had fun from start to finish. The plot wasnt boring or hackneyed and the characters were lovable.
I loved Brody and Harper together and how there wasnt much angst and drama that drags for forever. It was simple, fun and I didnt want to put the book down. However, my favorite character still stays Sawyer as it was with the first book. We didnt see him as much as in the first book but the last book is about him so I would see plenty of him.
Overall, I loved it as I predicted and cant wait till August when the third and final book is released!

Another Stephanie Plum, boy these things are formulaic but they are entertaining. Our usual cast of characters is here with some new fun with sister Valerie and Arthur Kloughn the lawyer. I'm glad we didn't get dragged back to the funeral parlor with Grandma. Lots of tension with Ranger, then it fades to black so... Fluff that basically goes nowhere but fun enough for plane reading.

Apparently, I am in the minority on my review of this book. I am glad that we all have differing opinions of favorites. Otherwise, it would be a boring reading community. This book just did not do it for me, and I was really looking forward to it. I really liked the writing style. I just couldn’t stand either of the main characters. Drew was an arrogant and winy rich boy who followed behind his father’s coat tails. Katherine (Kate) was a new associate hired by Drew’s father at his investment firm. I did not find either character to be believable and at times wanted to throw my book across the room – wouldn’t dare since it was an e-book!
The primary storyline took place at the firm where Kate and Drew were assigned a project for a client. The client ended up wanting Kate and it wasn’t due to her sharp wit and intellect. Drew is known for his sexual escapades and women fall at his feet. Not so with Kate, and he is determined to have her. This is a series, and needless to say, I am stopping at this one. Sorry, Ms. Chase, but I just can’t do it. As I said to each his/her own

Holy crap this book was hot and so very sweet. I want a Jared Quinn of my own. I really loved the way this book flowed. It was pretty predictable but that did nothing to inhibit my enjoyment of it. I really loved Sheridan. And her friend Willow. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

I chose this because I have to read it for another challenge and I wasn't expecting much. I was quite pleasantly surprised. The story centers around Agatha Raisin who has decided to sell her London PR agency and retire to the Cotswolds. The idea is perfect in her imagination but the reality of trying to belong as a newcomer to an old town begins to irritate Mrs. Raisin. She decides to enter a local quiche contest, although she hasn't the first idea about cooking. She purchases a quiche and passes it off as her own... subsequent events embroil her in a small town mystery. Agatha goes back and forth on whether or not to abandon the small village and return to London. She is attacked and threatened along the way, although all of it is written in a relatively cheery tone. Agatha is an entertaining character, and the supporting cast is well drawn. There are a number of stories in this series and I actually think I will read some of them. I'll probably also recommend this to my mother.

This is book 1 in Katie Reus’ Deadly Ops series. I have had this for a long time but just haven’t had it on my radar to read. I love it when a book is fast paced and full of mystery. This one packed a punch. While I think that the bad guys didn’t appear to be all that bad, the book as a whole was a fun and quick read. I actually listened to this on audio, and the narrator really made the story. I don’t like how the story just abruptly ended – I expected or wanted slightly more. I will definitely continue with this series!
I love military and espionage books - always have. Jack (aka Sam) is a former military sniper and has now been recruited in the NSA. Years ago, Jack (formerly Sam) let his teenage love slip by him. Sophie was told that Sam died on a mission – hence Jack was “born”. Now, Jack is thrust into a mission that involves drug lords and arms smuggling. He has to work closely with the one and only Sophie (his former teenage love). Without giving anything away, he and Sophie must team together in order to save Miami from terrorists. Working together has confirmed that they both still love each other, but it may be too late. There were flashbacks of their childhood that only helped to better explain their past. I am not a fan of flashbacks in books but this one did serve a particular purpose.

Reactions to books and challenges always do that to me. My hubby just looks at me and shakes his head.

Same here!

ETA:;They have three now too.
No matter what, I've had fun. Our team is awesome!
