Fisher's Light by Tara Sivec by Tara Sivec
Rating: 5 Stars
Finished: 3/27/2015

This book was an emotional roller coaster that I couldn't get off of...and I didn't want to. I have a soft spot for military romances and this one was perfect. Fisher and Lucy were amazing and I really loved getting to read their story.

I love Tara Sivec's hilarious side, but this side of her is amazing too. I am a forever fan of Tara's and now I need to get to the rest of her work that I own, but have not read.

Review: I liked it. It wasn't anything special to me and I couldn't really connect with the characters. However I liked how the book was all about fixing family problems and re-connecting with family members. I liked the relationship between Delilah and Patrick and I loved their little stolen moments. But they got together too fast. They saw each other twice and the next time bam, they are kissing. Delilah annoyed me when after the first couple of kisses she ran away and hurt him.
Some of the moments in the book weren't described as well as I wanted and half the time I was wondering if Delilah was thinking and imagining something or that something was really happening.
Overall, I enjoyed reading it but wasn't that into it... 2.5 stars.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Completed 3/27/15

4.25 stars

I have been putting this book off simply thinking that it would be contemporary fluff. Fortunately, I was completely wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I think that the title is misleading. If anything, it should be You before Me. I found both the hero/heroine to be very selfless. However, Lou’s sister was a piece of work! Lou, along with her parents, her younger sister, and her sister’s five year old son live in a small flat. Lou’s sister has decided to go back to college, expects her family to help her and her young son. Unfortunately, Lou’s employer closes his shop, and her dad loses his job. Lou has found employment as a caregiver to Will Traynor, who has a spinal cord injury and after two years has no desire to live. Will is rude but comes to highly respect Lou. Both Will and Lou help each other to find a little happiness and healing in both of their lives.

I listened to this on audible and really enjoyed all of the narrators. The author did not take pity on Will due to his accident and wrote around his disability. It was well written especially when discussing Will’s disability. My daughter has a mild disability, and people can be so rude and downright mean to a small child. When she was five, we actually quit going to church, because children and parents didn’t want her to attend children’s church. The church that we currently attend has special needs groups for children. It is amazing how much that disabled individuals need in order to just go out to eat. I can’t imagine what a quadriplegic and his/her caregiver must go through.

I did not give this 5 stars, because I felt that the secondary characters did not warrant as much time as they were given. Her mother infuriated me by how she showed favoritism to Lou’s sister who did not even work. Patrick, Lou’s boyfriend was a total ass, and Lou was 26 and before Will had no ambition and had always lived at home with her parents. Otherwise, I highly recommend this book!

A Kiss at Midnight (Fairy Tales, #1) by Eloisa James
1st in series, Author J

Read 3/28
3 stars

I enjoyed this book. Eloisa James is always witty and entertaining. She says in an afterword that she took liberties with the language (and I would say with a lot of the action, too) because this is a fairytale, not a historical.

But I didn't love the book. Kate and Gabriel were a bit too brittle and it was a bit too farcical for me. But it is a fun book and I will always happily read more Eloisa James.

Review: I knew it! I was spoiled from the beginning about the big plot twist in this book and saw from the beginning what it was. I did not want to believe it though. There were so many signs and quotes and warnings and they made me believe the other wasn't the good guy! Great job Victoria.
I really liked the setting and the whole silver/red blood thing. I want to see more people like Mare in the next book and them becoming like a little assassin group leading the revolution and taking back the throne. I want to see Cal and Mare forgiving each other for the... misleadings, and get together. I think that Kolier will be a contender and that really annoyes me.
It was sad when some people died and how they died. I hope we see more from her teacher. He was cool.
Overall, I really liked this book. I want to see where things will from here and what will happen with the whole country in the end. I think we'll find help in the other guys, the ones from the war. I can't wait to find out.

Rating: 4.5 Stars
Finished: 3/29/15

This book starts off with an emotional gut punch that I wasn’t prepared for, but that made me have to immediately keep reading this book. I couldn’t put it down and I’m so glad that I jumped in and read this when I did. I loved Harley. She was so strong and funny. Tyson was pretty great too, although there were some moments I wanted to punch him in the face. I also loved the secondary characters. I’m hoping that Harley’s two best friends will be getting their own books and maybe we’ll even get a book for one of the doctor’s at the hospital.

K.L. Grayson has a new fan in me and I cannot wait to read more by her.

I liked this story and I want to read more, but as others have noted the "telling" instead of "showing" was a bit irritating. It's also repetitive. I did really love the connection between Kevin and Hugo, it was palpable and I loved any scene where it was the two of them.

I will read the sequel but I'm not in a hurry.

Murder of Crows (The Others, #2) by Anne Bishop

Completed 4/1/15

4.5 stars

This is book 2 of the Others. If you have not read, Written in Red, I highly recommend that you do so before you begin this one. Murder of Crows picks up where Written in Red left off. Meg, who is a cassandra sangue, (blood prophet)is human and is protected by Simon since she saved his nephew in the last book. Meg’s first vision in Murder of Crows saves the Crows from a mass massacre. Her visions begin to come faster as Meg attempts to piece the puzzle together to help the Others. Simon’s and Meg’s relationship began to blossom as well as new characters being introduced.
I found the writing to be smooth and the story flowed well.

I enjoyed learning more about this world, but there is still something that I feel that I am missing. This was a quick read and I devoured this book! Looking forward to the next one in the series!
