To follow up on my suggestion, a book from a genre you don’t normally read could be as broad or narrow as you choose. Broad genres examples: romance, horror, cookbook
More narrow ideas: Historical fiction set in 1800s
A classic over 400 pages
Memoir of a musician
How about a book that starts with either:The Girl
The Boy
The Woman
The Man
Examples:
The Woman in the Window
The Man in the High Castle
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
I seem to have a lot of these on my list.
Joan- I’d prefer that but from my memory of admin rules whoever seconds it has to agree to the change
I would like to nominate: A book that features a hobby. I am thinking it could be about a character who spends time on their hobby or a nonfiction about a hobby.
I want to put forth Aimee’s idea of a book related to the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the Terracotta Army. It could be a book based in China
A book with a Chinese diaspora author
A book with Chinese influence.
A Xianxia or Wuxia novel like Daughter of the Moon Goddess or similar novels
History of China.

I think somewhere in the beginning of the Wild Discussion thread we mentioned the correlation of the number 24 to 24 hours in a day. I’d like to suggest a book that takes place in 24 hours (a single day.)
A book involving pirates, maps, or treasure.Relating to “X marks the spot” since X is the 24rd letter

Just a reminder that you can find a full list of prompts already on the 2024 list in the third post on this thread.
How Suggestions Work:
- The topics for the 2024 reading challenge list will be determined by a series of mini-polls, the number of which depends on the number of prompts winning in each mini-polls
- Suggestions for each poll will be opened until 15 suggestions are received and “seconded”.
- The voting thread will open the day after suggestions go live. You can find the schedule here.
Rules:
- Each member can only suggest OR second one prompt
- Suggestions close after 15 total seconded prompts
When suggesting and seconding, feel free to provide examples and descriptions that may help other members understand the prompt better. These descriptions and examples will be copied over to the voting thread for further discussion.
As always, please express any and all feedback (respectfully, of course), either here or in The Wild Discussion.
