Help identify a series?

Hi, can anyone help me identify a series of books please. They're mystery/thriller/crime, not too old, last decade almost certainly, features a character named Caroline & an eccentric amateur magician called Hugo.

I've been trying to remember the main female character's name but that eludes me, as does the series. Caroline shares a house with the main female in the first books.

Finally figured it out. It's the Jessica Daniel series by Kerry Wilkinson.
