annotating !

those who annotate, can you give me some tips? I have the materials (tabs, highlighter, pen) but idk where to start.

I guess everyone annotates differently, but I have a strict colour system, which I use for every book ( I decided what each colour means and where I want to put a tab ) and if I write in a book I write down every thought I get while reading, mostly smileys and omg's

I use a pencil to underline and write things next to certain quotes

i mostly use tabs! i have a general color code. to give u some ideas, mine it's something like this: :)
- pink for cute scenes, - blue for quotes i like, - yellow for descriptions, - orange for fav scenes, - green for shocking moments, etc.
and then sometimes i use a pencil to write down my thoughts next to a particular quote.
