Drace (dracenines) | 7540 comments Three upcoming books in the Splatter Western series have been announced, and while they are on the series page (https://www.goodreads.com/series/3223...), they need to be numbered. The series' numbering is simply based on when the book is released.

No Guilt of Bloodshed - Book 18
All of Your Dreams Will Come True When You're Dead - Book 19
Here Comes the Sun - Book 20

Thanks to anyone who can help with this.

It's officially categorized as a series by the publisher. Most of the books are standalone but they've all got the series title on the cover.

Are the stories connected in some way? Fictional setting, characters?

There are smaller series within the larger Splatter Western series where one book is a sequel to the other, but other than the genre and the publisher, no. It's an anthology series.

Worth noting that there are other disconnected multi-author anthology series of standalone books on Goodreads. This one isn't unique, and if those exist, I don't see any reason why this one shouldn't.

Yes, series are often created against policy. Every few months somebody puts Jules Verne's books into a series. It doesn't mean it's right.

Sure, but Verne is dead and as far as I'm aware he never explicitly said that 20,000 Leagues and The Mysterious Island were meant to be a series. Whereas here, literally everyone involved in these books' publications (authors, publisher, cover art designers, it's even present in the descriptions of some of the books) states in no uncertain terms it's meant to be a thematic anthology series. I think that should be definitely taken into consideration here.

Scott | 9302 comments My point was that just because something exists on Goodreads doesn't mean it should. Policy states that works in a series must have some kind of internal connection. That the publisher or author says it's a series has no weight.

And I'm guessing that genre, themes, and similar settings don't count as an internal connection?

If the series needs to be deleted, so be it. I don't think I'm going to be able to argue against Goodreads policy. Worst-case scenario, I can make a list for them (does anyone still use the Goodreads list functionality?)

But at the very least, there are some Splatter Western books that have direct sequels and should have their own series pages created for them. Just let me know if you want to provide the information for them in this thread or start a new one.

Scott | 9302 comments Listopia is the alternative that many use in such a case, yes.
