Birnam Wood
question
Need to discuss the ending of Birnam Wood!

Hello - I have just read Birnam Wood - wow! - what an amazing book! What a page-turner! I am pretty speechless about the ending. Would love to hear other people's thoughts about it.

I thought the ending was ok, but I really would have preferred that not everyone but Tony die. A bit too tragic for my taste...
I loved the ending. I thought everyone had died. But the goal was accomplished and the bad rich guy did not get away with it. It should not have been such a shock that he was so ruthless but it was.
Yeah, so it seems everyone dies. Including Tony if he blew up the mine with his lighter like it says. Fantastic book, but yikes.
So does that mean the plot (which I didn't fully understand) didn't come off because the mine was blown up?
I loved how Lady Daverish saves Tony but was disappointed at her dieing.
Also, with the security guard living and no one knowing Tony hadn't murdered everyone , it seemed to suggest he died in vain....does the world hear the story of what really Robert Lemoine was doing.....
I loved this book and couldn't put it down.

A few takeaways I had were--the corporate mindset about paying penalties rather than following the law is spot on. Killing people when you think you'll get away with it, whether as openly as in this book (happens all the time in third world countries, Central and South America and in Africa) or through the pollution created through corporate actions (everywhere). The moral of the story: no one is getting out of this alive.
I absolutly did not see the end coming. I enjoyed the book very much.
Liked the book, but felt the ending let it down: air rifles are not known to be fatal, and how did the stricken Tony make his way kilometres up the hills to get to the mine?
