Hello Pamela. Nice to meet you and thanks for pointing out I was posting the Kindle Scout link. I just reviewed your novel excerpt. It sounds like a fascinating read as well as all of the places you lived :) I am putting it on my list to nominate (waiting for Paul's book to wrap up too :)
Hello everyone! I found this group at the end of my KS campaign for Save Nina, which ended on December 7, 2015. On the last day of voting, Save Nina was hot! It's amusing how one day on the hot list gives me great satisfaction. Save Nina is in review at KS. I'm please to meet everyone, and to have an opportunity to read your experiences.

Welcome Kimberly. I just read your blurb and added it to my saved list. There are so many good books up now! I'm using the opportunity to build up my library...it's also a good distraction from watching Expert Witness move on and off of the hot & trending list : /

I got my copy of Land Sharks because I was smart to nominate it -- looking forward to reading it. Way to go, Nancy, my sister in crime.
I've been spacing out my campaign of begging for people to look at my submission. When it dips off the H*T, I hit up a few groups. I wait, when it dips, I contact another group. I'm spacing out my efforts.
Thank you for the advice Nancy! I'm trying to space out my campaign. I've joined a ton of Facebook groups and I've been posting in them when I drop out of H&T. My time on H&T has been a bit sporadic, which makes me a little paranoid, but I'm hoping once my mailing list Email goes out in a few days it'll stay steady for a while. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Regina's World is on my saved/nominate list, along with Expert Witness, Divine Hotel, Dead & Breakfast, and Saving April :-) Who are we missing here?
My campaign ended the day before yesterday. My stats were good but jerky, and I know a couple of books I was CERTAIN would get chosen who didn't.... It's killing me as I wait for the verdict...

Hang in there Kimberly! I thought the waiting was so much harder as well. I was probably one of the few who didn't hit refresh very often on the Scout site, but I sure visited it every half hour or so during the waiting period (especially after that initial 48 hour cutoff). I tried to work on my back-up plan but concentrating was difficult. I think it's worse because there is not too much you can do at that point. But you already have previous publications, which I think is a huge plus. Hopefully, you will receive some good news soon :) Best of luck!

If not selected, I have a lot to do to get D&B up -- proofreading and formatting, and reviews, etc etc. I'll be too busy to be bummed for long.
I'm still waiting and the anxiety is killing me. Can't concentrate on anything else right now.
Hoping for good news. Once you pass the first 48 hours, the news seems to come more often at the end of the day from what I've seen (5-7EST).
I've written and published two novels and a non-fiction (NFL Draft) work as an indie author. In all three cases my inability to market (or have the funds to throw at it) has been a frustration.While writing my third novel (first in a planned series), I've been thinking about giving Kindle Scout a go. My concern was that those who can market their campaign would be selected over those who can't (which would be me!). So I'm encouraged reading through the posts in this thread that just being on the Hot List for as many days as possible isn't the only factor.
I figure an unsuccessful campaign will only cost me 45 days, so I will give it a go. I'm going to at least attempt not to worry about it too much, go in with low expectations and see what happens! In the meantime I can use the time to start work on book two in the series! I'll post the campaign page link when it's up.
Good luck Paul! There is definitely more to Kindle Scout than the H&T list. Recently, there were books who remained on the H&T for almost the entire duration of the campaign that were not selected. I don't think anyone is entirely sure about which factors are most important, but a good cover, blurb and a well-written and edited novel are a good start. Hope it works out for you.

James, I thought you did a great job summing KS up in your blog/tree. Adding the additional information on the marketing concerns related to not being selected is helpful as I've heard this issue brought up more lately.Just curious, is there any type of consensus on the average time it takes a KS published author to earn back his/her advance? (Obviously, there will be differences from book to book but on average?)
Hello to all!I've already connected with a ton of great Kindle Scout participates, and I figured I'd jump into the fray here as well. My novel, Resthaven, is almost halfway through the campaign, and so far (I think) it's going pretty well. 30 days is a LONG to promote the work--and I'm already suffering minor fatigue--but as we all know, promotion is half the battle. Which, naturally, brings me to a shameless plug. :)

Erik, it's a question a lot of kindle scout authors have been talking about for a while, but I don't know the answer as to why no audio yet.

Hello all,Really glad that I found this! I looked around everywhere for a place where Kindle Scout folks congregate. My campaign began last week. It certainly is interesting to read the perspectives on what it means to be hot and trending. It seems like that is what everyone wants, but it certainly does NOT appear to count for everything. Anyway, I look forward to participating in further discussions.
My campaign for my book, The Second Sphere, has been doing okay. It fell off of hot the other day, but I am just going to keep pressing forward.
