Lawrence (lawrenceevalyn) | 8 comments Basically, I am trying to some cleanup about two different James Ravens.
James^Raven: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
James^^Raven: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

The second one (with two spaces in his name) is a writer of crime thrillers with many more books than the first one (one space), an academic. Which means it seems very likely to me that his books will often continue to be mis-attributed to the scholar. Is there a REMOTELY easy way that the crime author could become James^Raven and the academic could become James^^Raven? Or is there another "best practices" way to handle this? (Like, should the scholar become James^^^Raven so that James^Raven is just for books that haven't really been sorted out between them?)

Elizabeth (Alaska) You cannot edit a Goodreads author. It is highly unlikely that staff would change him to the 1-space profile because all of the books being imported would go there. (This is how it is supposed to work, but the bot has been behaving strangely lately. Hopefully that will get worked out.)

Yes, you could move the scholar and his books to the 3-space profile. However, if that leaves the 1-space profile empty, it would be automatically deleted by the system. Best to leave it as is, and move books when required.
