i prefer paperback too! I feel like the book feels very heavy and intimidating when in hardback! but, I love the way lots of pretty hardbacks look on my shelves... I can't win lol!

True dat. Plus my school bag can be very full so I prefer to take hardbacks to school because I know paperbacks will get squashed.

I too prefer paperbacks. I find the dust sleeves on hardbacks annoy me, plus they're harder to shelf. >.>
I do hate it how damaged they can get though. I let my brother read my book Charlie and The Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl and he cracked the spine! I told him how to hold it but he said "Sorry I forgot." I am not happy with him.
I prefer hardcover because they last longer and there's no spine to crack (unless it's really big) :) I mostly buy paperback though, because they're cheaper
same here. Paperbacks are cheaper where I live so thats usually what I get unless of course the book cover is one of those pretty ones then I just need hardcover haha
Usually the only reason I buy hardcover is because it's the only format available. >.> I'm not a very patient person. lol.
I buy hardcover when I love the book and want to read it over and over or if the hardcover version is amazing, otherwise I buy paperback because they are cheaper.
I prefer hardcover, though they're hard to find in Brazil. As for the dust jacket, I remove it while reading, and then, when I'm done, I put it back
I'm just like Tati, I prefer hardbacks. They look pretty in my bookshelves but with big book, it's quite hard for me to hold and carry it with me. I just finished Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor and it was one helluva effort to hold it, lol. Now I have more paperbacks, though. Hardbacks are just getting more expensive for me.
I think in terms of durability, the hardbacks are likely to last longer than the paperbacks. And hardbacks are harder to break the spine.
i prefer hardcover it's easy to care when you use only the book without the cover paper it's easy to travel I think
Though I prefer paperback because they are easier to hold, and I dislike the paper cover on hardbacks because they fall off. I personally like seeing the hardback cover on my book shelf better, and the books generally hold up to the test of time better as well.
Such a tricky question! Most, in fact nearly all of the books that I own are paperbacks. The only hardback book I own is 'little women' which I only bought yesterday. I think paperbacks are so much more convenient for travel because they're lightweight and generally smaller than a hardcover version.
But the hardcover books are almost always SO much prettier :(
But they're heavier and slightly harder to hold if you read laying down with the book in the air like me.
I would probably buy only hardcover books except for the small problem that I don't have a lot of money. My mum buys nearly all of my books and here in Australia, hardcover books are SO expensive compared to paperbacks.
Like seriously, say you want to buy 'Alice's adventures in wonderland'
(Sorry it was the first thing that came to mind)
The paperback version would be about $15 dollars. The hardback version could be from $35 dollars right up to FIFTY DOLLARS!!
I don't have that kind of money, especially when I could be buying 4 or 5 books with that money.
So I'm going to go with paperbacks.
If I was rich, I would go with hardback.
{but I'm not rich so forget that}
I prefer hardbacks because when you read they don't bend the cover.

Honestly I prefer to read in paperback form because when I read in hardback, the dust sleeve keeps on slipping and I prefer to leave that on.
