Mikita | 321 comments Hi guys,
I started adding the polish book by the request (this is the book https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...)
and the question appears. The series is a real mess (https://www.goodreads.com/series/3206...) combination of different editions and even languages. Should I do all the series as Spanish editions (those with the Choose # Cthulhu at the green bottom) as this seems like the first and original one. And the other editions just combine with this one after adding it to the series? But then there is a question with polish editions, as they skip one of the book and their numbers in the series are different. So should I leave in their title like (Choose Cthulhu 7) but combine this with Choose Cthulhu 8 book in the series? And one more question - I am adding the Spanish book into the series, then I am combining this book with the polish edition and I can see the polish edition is mentioned in the series instead of the Spanish, why this is happening?
Thank you for the answers in advance. If someone wants to fix everything themselves I will be ok with this but anyway I am interested in the answers)

Liralen | 8223 comments Unfortunately Goodreads series pages have some limitations. The most popular edition of a work (or the default work, if the author has set a different one) will appear on the series page—so while one option is to create a second series page for the Polish ordering, mostly Spanish editions will show anyway.

Here's what I would suggest (should be okay by GR policy, but correct me if I'm wrong or if anyone has a better idea!):

1) All like editions should be combined. This is true regardless of the rest of this. (So yes, Polish Cthulhu 7 should be combined with Spanish Cthulhu 8, if they're the same book.)

2) Spanish editions should retain Spanish numbering, and Polish editions should retain Polish numbering.

3) Leave it at one series page, but add a note in the series description that some translations have different series numbering.

3a) Again...if you want, I don't think it's against GR policy to create a second series page with alternative numbering. But I suspect that would ultimately be more confusing, given the limitations to series pages.

Mikita | 321 comments Hey Liralen, thank you for the answers!
When you are saying, a second series page, you mean to create a new series for polish editions with their numbering? But they will still be combined with Spanish editions, right?

Mikita | 321 comments Cause there is also an issue that polish editions took the first book with the same name but of a different author than Spanish edition. That is why this is added into the series as #0

Yes - you could create a series page with Polish numbering. But since they would still be combined with the Spanish editions (per GR policy), and the Spanish editions are more popular, the Spanish editions would almost certainly be the ones that showed on that page. That's why I don't think a second series page is the answer here.

I'm not sure to do about #0, though! Someone else might have better ideas than I do.
