I agree about more in book 1 than 2 but there were some small mentions in the web stories. Looking forward to Hourglass to see if there were more things I never took notice of the first 5 times I read these.....

I didn't realize the spoiler tags were series spoiler or Iain only! LOL. I didn't open the newest ones because Iain said book 3....

I finished Sunken Mall, and jumped right in to Scenes from Quarantine--really enjoyed it, and I like how @Ann-Marie you described them as "essential"--I am really really glad I'm taking the time to catch up with them, because they're really fleshing out the relationships between the new "family"--which is what I really was hungering for after the end of book 2.

re: Scenes from Quarantine--(view spoiler)[I really really love seeing the family come together, and I enjoyed the humor at the beginning, with all the memories of the annoyances and worries of that early COVID. I really like the development that Layne gets especially, and the constant cursing as Rune & Brand etc get used to using their new pronoun. (hide spoiler)]

re: Scenes from Quarantine--(view spoiler)[I found it hilarious to think of Lord Tower as babysitter period... the two chocolate handprints totally trump eating a cheeseburger...

I really wish there was a magic curse jar. That was a great two minute prank though... and how it turned out Brand saw everyone's bingo sheet and (possibly) played it so Rune won...

Ciaran going to bat for Layne & Anna totally made my day. And I am really coming to enjoy him. He reminds me of Eithan in Cradle, but less exuberant, and with a darker edge.

I am so happy the ocean roc is free! I really like how a lot of little loose ends like this are being tucked in in these shorts. (hide spoiler)]

Kellum is the merman from the brothel in #2, yes? But who is the cousin Sherman mentioned? I don't remember him...

Am I correct that Corrine was the companion for Anna/Corbie/Layne's father, or is she actually related somehow? And who was their father to Rune?

How did everyone meet Ciaran? I totally spaced whatever he did in book 1. (hide spoiler)]

Been thinking more on the overall symbolism: Sun, why Sun? Everyone is in his orbit. He brings light and warmth to Atlantis.

re: Brand & Rune--(view spoiler)[I think Rune being demiromantic actually makes it more probable that he & Brand have a potential romantic connection--what deeper existing connection could there be than theirs? And the fact that in book 1 Rune mentions he had a crush on Brand when he was a teen and Brand shut him down but never told him why makes it very clear that the whole Westerwhatsit theory doesn't apply to them. I think Brand shut him down because he loves Rune but sees that love as a liability--if he let a relationship with Rune develop, Rune is the type of person who might try to sacrifice himself for Brand, and Brand has to be the one doing the sacrificing. Diana is Addam's aunt, her sister is Lady Justice. In book 1 she was Ella's chaperone and she accompanied Quinn to Rune's apartment at the very end of the book.

Yes, Kellum is the merman from book 2. Sherman was Layne's friend, the one who Corrine went to with the money who took it and ran. Rune, Brand & Addam confronted him and he was the guy that Addam gave his card to so he could get help for his addictions.

Corrine was their father's companion, yes, no actual physical relationship. Kevin (the father) served one of the lesser houses that was part of the Sun Throne.

Quinn told Rune & Brand to find Ciaran early in the investigation in book 1, I think in a dream or it may have been at the hospital before Quinn passed out? But Quinn got that relationship started, Rune knew who Ciaran was but had no real interactions I think. And then Ciaran was in the Westlands during the final battle and then I guess got sucked into Rune's family lol (hide spoiler)]

There was some mess on GR a while back that free books on authors' sites could not have a GR entry but that got straightened out and I am glad that these are listed in the series page. I think it's awesome you are enjoying them, they really do add to the overall series/stories and there is most definitely significant character development that is referred to in the main books, but I like being able to read it myself!

I agree with all of you. This was so good! The haunted ship was gruesome, the declaration Of Rune's place in the Arcana - very dramatic! And the ending, very satisfying!

I loved all The Dawncreeks and The Arthritic Dinosaur:))) And Quinn and Max's friendship is just wonderful!!!

I am ready for the next book:)))

Not horrible at all! Addam & Rune do make a sweet couple. I'd kind of like them to form a thruple with Brand.
