Liralen | 8223 comments I'm aware that this isn't really a librarian group issue, but I'm hoping someone here will know how to figure this out:

My 2022 shelf currently has 299 books on it. That is...not right. I checked GR exports from Jan and May and searched for "z-2022" (the shelf name), and that confirms that there should be 300 books on that shelf. How can I cross-check to find out what book is missing without manually checking 299 books?

(I realise that this is just one book. However, while I cannot guarantee that this was not a mistake I made, it worries me to think that this might be part of Botpocalypse 2023.)

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Renske | 12220 comments I would use a search function between the old and recent export spreadsheets to compare the book IDs. (That is VLOOKUP in English I think?) I use that function often for my actual job, so that is the first thing I would go to.

Arenda | 26447 comments Or just open both export spreadsheets, sort each by title and check a number, say #50. When they have the same book at 50, check #100. When the book is different on the last number, check between those numbers.

ETA: you'll have to select only 2022 first from your export spreadsheets, before sorting on title.

Liralen | 8223 comments Thank you both! I found the book using Arenda's suggestion—it's still on my shelves and looks otherwise okay, so I'm going to go with user (me) error on this one. Bonus: I learned something about Excel :)
