I read this probably in the late 90’s.

Actress one- sweet, naive, brunette(maybe), from a small town trailer park, doesn’t want people to know her parents are poor drunks.

Actress two- manipulative and sly, beautiful redhead, mother is an old hollywood star and now a recluse, the two live alone in a huge mansion, gay “Uncle”(maybe was a producer or something) tries to give her advice.

I’m pretty sure there was a love story for the sweet brunette as well. You don’t really know the redhead’s secret for most of the book, but pretty sure she was actually born male and her crazy mother raised her as a girl. She dies in a car accident at the end of the book, during an awards show I think, and everyone is shocked by the news(that she’s a biological male). I think (not sure) the two actresses were up against each other and the redhead was finally set to win when she died. It may be the other way around though, that the brunette was finally set to win?

I’ve searched for this book everywhere. I can’t find even a whiff of it. Help!!
