Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & I'm feeling very spoilt this year, as all the winners so far this year have been favourites of mine, so I won't nominate a book this time round.

Please don't nominate a book that was read last year;

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

or has already been read this year;

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Nominations will be closed Monday (my time) or when we have five nominations - whichever comes first!

Let the nominations begin!

Added to the list, Critterbee. Room for two more!

Jackie | 1729 comments how about Behold, Here's Poison? although doing two mysteries in a row might not be ideal.

Added. :)

One more spot!

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 4143 comments How about The Toll-Gate? My other choice would be The civil contract, because it leads to a lot of discussion, but people generally hate it or love it! So, it’s either adventure/romp/kind of mystery (fitting for summer), or more serious, still-funny-but-definitely-not Heyer’s typical romance! Neither would be dull;) but I’m up for any of the above.

Also, we have several newer members, I’d gladly give up my spot so they can nominate a title they’d like to read and discuss!

Perish the thought! 🤣

I think newer members have had a chance to nominate a book themselves Susan. I just didn't nominate one myself just because it is a bit unfair if I nominate every month! So which one would you prefer, The Tollgate or A Civil Contract? (the edition you linked to needs correcting - I'll do that tomorrow)

So, nominations closed! :)

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 4143 comments I think “The Toll-gate” is a fun adventure, and I so enjoyed our recent “Talisman Ring” read - they both have a similar vibe, I feel. I’ll nominate that one.

Cool! I will set up the poll!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ Sorry for the delay everyone! I've had a busy day - then creating the poll played up for me!

Here it is now https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/1...

& it should also be on the home page.

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ & I just realised that with the problems I had with the poll, that somehow 2 were created. Fortunately the voters were me, Susan in NC & Mela - - we have voted in the other poll as well. So I have deleted the duplicate. Sorry about that.

Susan in NC (susanncreader) | 4143 comments Thanks for the update, I voted in both just to be sure!🤪

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ The poll will be closing soonish if anyone still wants to vote!

Carol She's So Novel꧁꧂ The voting has ended & The Toll-gate is our August read!

It is one of my least favourites, but perhaps after a second read, I will like it more.

Susan in Perthshire (susanageofaquarius) | 1448 comments Yet again, I seem to have missed the notification that the poll was open, and also the one that said what the result was.

I’ve only received the notification of Mela’s post. I’m just wondering why that should occur?

I’m perfectly happy with the choice although I just read this is another GH group on FB. C’est la vie!

This has been a bug on this site for years that only some members have. You often see other members have added something like Not Receiving Notifications to their name, so that their GR friends don't think they are being ignored.

Recently yes! I try to give enough warning for people who don't have easy access to GH titles have time to acquire the book.

It should be a great discussion! Don't forget to check out the poll for September - & the discussion where I managed to completely confuse everyone!
