Bujo_bellel (bujo_bellel) | 51 comments Part 1:
I didn't really know what was happening in the beginning, but later on it was explained and I could understand what was going on. Later on, we got a better understanding of the characters, and we're introduced to their grandparents. Sam's grandparents are so sweet, and Sadie's grandma is so wise and give great advice. I like what she said about hwo those who gave you charity were never your friends, it gave me a different perspective and led to a better understanding of why Sam reacted that way when he found out. I don't like Sadie's relationship with Dov, she is a minor and he was grooming and gaslighting her. Not cool. Dude was literally married with a kid. I really loved Marx's character, he is so kidn and literally helps Sam with everything, he gives him good advice too! Marx literally calls home for Sam if he forgot to call them to update them about Sam!! Also I'm glad that Sam actually listens to Marx's advice and helped Sadie overcome her depression :))

Sarah Baddeley (bannerheldhigh) | 29 comments I thought it was an odd introduction to our main characters - especially when Sam said he hated her. it's a strong choice of words and I know the back story was explained but I feel like he was more telling himself he hated her than actually did. you get the impression that these two are like magnets that find their way back together somehow.

Marx is fantastic - always just quietly there helping his friend but never making it appear like charity until Sadie did at the hospital.

Dov is a creep.

Sarah Baddeley (bannerheldhigh) | 29 comments I've finished Chapter 3 but I think I'm technically a day ahead so I'll hold on posting my thoughts until tomorrow @Bujo_bellel

I'm absolutely hooked

Bujo_bellel (bujo_bellel) | 51 comments I've actually read until Part 8 already haha! So you can post your thoughts already :)

Sarah Baddeley (bannerheldhigh) | 29 comments ok, so my part 2 and part 3 thoughts - firstly Sam's description of how if x,y,z hadn't happened then Anna wouldn't die just like in a game broke my heart.

I also found Sadie's feeling when Sam went missing really moving and I like how that's how she came up with the original idea for Other Side.

watching Sam and Sadies relationship fall apart once they move is really sad. I kind of didn't think it felt relationship until you realise that this turn of events takes place over many months/a couple of years but I just wish they'd both stop trying to protect themselves/each other (sometimes I'm not sure which one it is!) and just talk to each other! Sam freely admits Sadie saved him as a boy but then he still can't seem to confide in her as an adult? frustrating

Bujo_bellel (bujo_bellel) | 51 comments Yes! It was heartbreaking hearing about how Anna died and how it had affected Sam :( When Sadie was very worried about Sam, you can tell that they are very close and are like family to each other. I also felt really sad that once they moved and Sam got his surgery done and Sadie got busy, they started to drift away from each other and also started having arguments too! I'm quite frustrated with Sam not being able to communicate with Sadie properly, which causes Sadie to misunderstand him and further weakens their relationship :(
My thoughts on Part 2: I am quite confused with the random kissing with friends which I find very strange honestly, I'm not sure if you felt this way too. Also I think that the games that Sadie and Sam made were very creative and I would actually play all of those since they sound very interesting. I think the games are also pretty original, although some of them have references to other games. I like that they decided to make their character genderless although the company pressured them to change them to a boy. Clearly, Sam's dad does not care much about him, considering he lives relatively nearby and doesn't visit at all. He was literally bragging about his girlfriend to his son?? After breaking up with Dov, Sadie literally went into depression!! I guess that shows how much Dov had affected her. I like that Sam had taken Marx's advice and accompanied Sadie every day to help her out of her slump. Also Dov is clearly a predator, he literally knows how young Sadie is and still decides to get in a relationship with her.. I don't know how I feel about Dov crying when Sadie wants to move out and break up with him..

Sarah Baddeley (bannerheldhigh) | 29 comments yeah I had similar feelings about the Marx, Zoe, Sadie part. it felt a little contrived? Zoe is a strange character for me. maybe I'm thinking too much into it and the whole gaming vibe but she very much fits the NPC role doesn't she? she moves the story in a new direction but we don't know much about her and never get her feelings really told in the story.

Sam's phantom limb sounds awful. I just wish he would open up with the people he loves as he can see himself losing them and becoming a worse person for it and yet he still can't. Marx is phenomenal.

Bujo_bellel (bujo_bellel) | 51 comments Yea, there are some parts of the book that I think were very random and unrealistic, I guess Zoe is an NPC, she's just there, but adds things to the plot at the same time. Yea, Sam's phantom limb sounds terrible, I kept getting frustrated that he didn't open up and talk to Sadie about it at all, which made her think he didn't care about the company or the Both Sides. Made me sad to see their relationship this way.
