Pghfan, B&N didn't have Campion in stock so I ordered it. Should have it in a few days. ;-)

message 52: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments I was going to start when you decided to start, so I'll start it tonight. I've got this nasty croup that is going around, and I have those coughing fits at night which keeps me up, so I've been using that time to read. I'll get started on the book in a few minutes, when I'm done with goodreads....lol...

Oh and before I forget, Remind me a few days before May that I'm hosting Royalness, I might forget between now and then, specially since I'm taking cough syrup and things tend to be fuzzy....I might not remember...lol

Please feel better soon, Jill. Croup is no picnic and TLC is required for healing. Tell you something you don't know, right?

Okay, how about start date this coming Monday? That good for you? If no, post a preferred date and we'll go accordingly.

Non spoiler - Some are comparing Girl/Train to Gone Girl. Just finished watching Gone Girl and IMHO, I'm preferring Girl/Train. But then most social network posts did not like Gone Girl's ending. I've heard Girl/Train ends better. We'll see.

Jill Tool | 992 comments Monday sounds great to me. If it's ok with others if they are joining

message 55: by J (new)

J My copy of Police has arrived at my local library and I should have it in a day or two so will be ready to go on April 1st.
Pgh- are u going with the usual 1/3 of the chapters division?

I'm still waiting for Police at the Funeral from my library. It was supposed to be available, but no word on it yet. I still hope to be on for an April 1 start date.

message 57: by J (new)

J Got mine today so will be ready whenever you are.

Received a pkg. in mail today just haven't had time to open it. I'm figuring it's my copy of Police/Funeral so I should be ready. ;-)

message 59: by Allison (new)

Allison | 905 comments Hey PI's I just found this thread. Can't believe I completely missed it, no idea how that happened.
Anyway, I'll join in on reading Police at the Funeral and have purchased my copy. Sorry I was AWOL, lol, I didn't mean to be.

Still waiting on the library. I hope it shows up soon!

message 61: by J (new)

J Pgh- does your library have on online borrowing system? If so, perhaps you get the book that way. We have one here although not every book is available in that format.

message 62: by Mark Pghfan (new)

Mark Pghfan | 1939 comments Mod
That is what I'm using. They said it was not checked out, but apparently in the process of sending it to my branch.

message 63: by J (new)

J I didn't explain myself properly...what I meant was a system where you can download the book onto your PC, iPad, kindle. Etc for a specific period of time...like borrowing only in what they call a digital format.

message 64: by Mark Pghfan (new)

Mark Pghfan | 1939 comments Mod
Oh, I see. I think I should have the book by tomorrow, so I'll hope for the best with that.

We're good. No, make that great. April is a few days off and there's no rule stating discussion HAS to start on noted date. Now, filing taxes, that's another thing. :-/

message 66: by Allison (new)

Allison | 905 comments So we're finishing up Girl on the Train then moving on to Police at the Funeral then moving on to Dearly Depotted...is that right?
I got the Police one but I don't have Dearly Depotted yet. Do I have time? I need to keep an eye on the budget so if I could push this one out to April 1st that would be good.

I think Dearly/Depotted doesn't run until May. Least I thought that was the schedule. Hope so.

Yeah, Girl/Train worked really well in this time frame. Page turner that it was has us getting through it in record time so it fit nicely. April is Campion and pghfan time. Yippee!

Oh good. I kind of overspent my (nonexistent) book budget this month so that's good it's not until May.

message 69: by J (new)

J Yes- Dearly Depotted will be in May. Jill and I will have to coordinate start dates before then but definitely May.

message 70: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Is Her Royal Spyness and Dearly Depotted on for May (and or June?) Refresh my memory please. I'll set about securing books for May and (or) June or both. Whatever you come up with is fine by me. ;-)

message 71: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments I was under the impression that Her Royal Spyness and Dearly Depotted were what we were reading for May, if the group still wants to do this. J (If your still doing Dearly Depotted) I'm open to however you want to do these two books. Just let me know.

message 72: by Allison (new)

Allison | 905 comments I'm open to whatever the rest of you decide. Just need a head's up for which one first as I have to get a copy.

message 73: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 241 comments I'm going to give these a miss this time. I've already read Dearly Depotted and am too advanced in the series to go back. I'm up to Throw in the trowel which is number 15. I'm not a fan of historical so with too many other books in my pile to get to I don't want to start a new series. Happy reading everyone.

message 74: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Sounds good, everyone. I've got Royal Spyness and will bag a copy of Depotted. Cheers!

Okay, Anastasia, just don't want you to miss out IMHO on one of the better series out there. Just to note: Royal Spyness isn't really historical. She's a young gal (about 20) and a royal many times removed but having that nth degree allows her access to many fab and famous people. Her mom reminds me a bit of Castle's mom who's a semi-retired entertainer, always on the prowl for one last gig. She rubs shoulders with Noel Coward, Coco Chanel, the queen etc. It's really a good series. Fun with legitimate mysteries. Maybe you'll give it a try in the future. ;-)

message 76: by Anastasia (new)

Anastasia (anastasiaruff) | 241 comments OK, You talked me into it, I'll join in with Royal Spyness.

message 77: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
That would be great but only if you enjoy it, Anastasia. But I have a feeling you'll love Georgie especially once the author gets in the swing of it.

What you might do is try reading the sample pages on Amazon before you borrow or buy. It should give you an idea of what the book is about.

Thanks, Anastasia!

Oooo - she sounds fun, are we reading that one first?

message 79: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments I haven't heard from J about when she wants to start her discussion but I'll start whenever everybody is ready. I'm getting ready to get my Depotted one now. So just tell me when your all ready to start

message 80: by J (last edited Apr 28, 2015 11:52AM) (new)

J Sorry Jill! Please start whenever you are ready. I will start Depotted when Spyness discussion is wrapped up. Got both books last night so good to go whenever.

message 81: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments No problem, J. How about we start the Spyness May 1, if that's ok with everyone. Let me know. I got Dearly Depotted today for my nook (let's see if this nook works any better) so I can start whenever everyone else would like to start

message 82: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
I'm good with Spyness first and then Depotted. Must finish order for latter, already have former so this works great for me. Both sound like great choices!

message 83: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments Then if it's ok with everyone, expressly you J, Then I'll start Spyness on May 1. Or I can put the boards up this week.

Just an aside: PI's, my fave book in her Spyness series (so far) is The 12 Clues of Christmas. Heaps of holiday spirit and mystery. However, there are many in the series I've not yet experienced. Eventually, I aim to read the whole series. So far I've three down and am sold.

Fine with me.

message 86: by J (new)

J Whatever works best for you, Jill.
The good thing about the format we use is the thread remains ongoing...can be added to whenever.

message 87: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments Sounds good. I'll get the boards up later tonight or tomm. Had to go to the dentist today and mouth is pretty sore right now. Thinking about laying down and milking this so that hubby will do Chinese this evening....I just don't feel like cooking and if hubby or son cooks I won't be able to eat bricks or rocks...

Be well, Jill. Yes, work that tooth thang with the family. Insist on being Queen for the day. Somewhat goes with theme of this month's pick. :-)

J Jill- I did the same thing today after my dentist appointment!

I think that we had discussed reading this series, but not do all the books at once. I think we are going to read one book everyother month so it's not like you have to sit down and read the hole series. If that helps you out any.

Jill Tool | 992 comments Tina wrote: "Be well, Jill. Yes, work that tooth thang with the family. Insist on being Queen for the day. Somewhat goes with theme of this month's pick. :-)"

I did and I am...lol...mouth is still sore today, but not to terrible bad. It's sore enough that I don't feel like doing much. So I think I'm just going to take it easy today and watch some tv, read, and relax. Who knows if it warms up today I might just relax outside and enjoy the sunshine!!!!!!!!!!

message 92: by Jill (new)

Jill Tool | 992 comments Boards are up for Her Royal Spyness. Happy reading everyone....also lets see if any can guess what my commentary is about......lol.....if you can't figure it out the answer is in the last discussion board for Her Royal Spyness.

Am I falling behind already? lol All the chapters up. I better get a move on. ;-)

Though I read the book before, I'm doing something I rarely do (eye thing) and that is to reread a book. I like it enough to do so so soon after.

Enjoy, everyone. And thanks, Jill for hosting this month's pick!! Appreciate it.
