Nice! Thanks for the cosign :)

I own a copy of Christmas Days. Maybe I'll get to it during Fall Flurries.

Published in 1985, this is a coming-of-age story about Jeanette, adopted daughter of a religious fundamentalist mother and an inattentive father, who grows up in England in what appears to be the 1960s-1970s. She has a gift for preaching and her mother wants her to become a missionary. She hits adolescence and falls in love with another girl, which is not acceptable to her church community. The two are separated and Jeanette is forced to go through an exorcism. The primary storyline follows Jeanette’s coming of age and eventual decision to leave home. Additional folk tales of Sir Percival, the Grail Legend, wizards, witches, knights, and travelers, are scattered throughout the narrative. These ancillary stories add texture to the primary theme of the search for identity. It is written with empathy and humor. My version contained an introduction, in which Winterson explains that the core of this novel is loosely based on her own life.
