Thank you! I will read the one that puts me 10 ahead (via the roll) now. Then I'll immediately use the 15 from the special roll after that.

My last book was never published as a hardback, but both the paperback (523) and Kindle (525) versions were over 500 pages.

ETA: I used a saved bonus to move forward an extra two spaces as I had already read the book I landed on, so I have just read #74. I made a note of this on my tracking thread.

@Nicole: Is the Remote Control on your board this one by Nnedi Okorafor?

No, but I did! Guess it will be Make It Up Monday!

The randomizer selected Ellen. I'm sorry Ellen!
You will be moving back 2, after you complete your current book.

No apologies necessary! It all adds to the fun.

You do read it, and then request your ride on the Shinkansen!

Notice I kept my mouth shut this week after being knocked back two weeks in a row by Ursula the Rampant Randomizer! I'm planning a sage burning over Ursula when I am finally able to roll a die - or rather 2 dice from clerk- again. One book read, 2 to go before then ...

Oh I am so jealous, Robin! Have a great ride!

Because of your experience, I was a bit nervous about saying anything.

Ok, thanks!

Yes, please go ahead with setting up your new board, Diana!!

I did raise an eyebrow at your question - half admired your bravery and shuddered at your poking ....

Thank you for your kind words, Joanne! You are right - I find solace in reading books and participating in the different challenges here in PBT. I remember joining in the first months of Covid because I wanted to have somebody to discuss books with. And I'm so glad that this was the first group I'd found!

Yeah, I also remember Poll Ballot and how crazy it looked to me - the person who hasn't seen such challenges before:) Unfortunately, I was too shy at that time to join Zoom meetings which I regret a lot.

I’ve been feeling like we need to give Theresa some kind of an award or a prize or at least an acknowledgment. Like isn’t there a good sport award? Especially since she’s been such a good train administrator. Maybe we see what pops up at the end of the year. I at least wanted to acknowledge her yet another time. She and Joanne are like the spirit of the train.

JoAnne and I would of course accept any special treats, prizes, or awards anyone cares to confer.

Also kudos to the Mods for accepting the enhanced version of the game. I'm sure in some groups the Mod who started the game would get angry at members who tried to add to the original concept. Then the people with the suggestions would get all huffy and other members would take sides, lots of passive/aggressive comments and maybe people quitting the group! Sounds ridiculous but I have seen this often both online and IRL.
And as I said in the very beginning, much credit to the Mods for creating a game that they have to monitor closely every single day. The last couple of years were less demanding in that way.

Oh thank you for such kind words! I'm very thrilled that members bring creative energy to our challenges. We have been extraordinarily lucky in terms of having a good group of members. It's definitely a labor of love for me!
