Felicia | 2 comments Scientist home planet possibly destroyed. Spaceship is attacked at entrance. Other scientists are working from the spaceship. Team goes exploring. The distance goes on and on. The distance is broken up by obstacles between each section. Landscape in each section different. There may be a high speed rail line in one section. Eventually team finds lost city.

Andy Phillips | 240 comments It might be Eon. Earth isn't destroyed (unless that happens later in the book) but there is some sort of tension and underlying threat of war. There's an asteroid that's seemingly infinitely large inside and there is a lost city in the asteroid.

Glad you found your book, Felicia.

Eon (book 1 of The Way series) by Greg Bear - Andy's find.

Andy Phillips | 240 comments Great! I enjoyed it, but hadn't realised there's a sequel until now.
