I Heard it is necessary for the fantasy world so for my birthday which is on Thursday I’m getting Shadow and Bone box set it’s only $13
You don't HAVE to read Shadow and Bone first as the stories aren't really related but it is advised to read them in order, especially so you have that background knowledge as well :)
I Read Shadow and bone first and I feel like if I hadn’t I would’ve been rlly confused going into six of crows
Ive read six of crows and crooked kingdom and i still havent read shadow and bone, so no, you dont need to read it before six of crows. I understood everything and enjoyed SOC.
it isnt! shadow and bone is only interessanting to understand the world! but you can watch only the show that is good :)
I read the six of crows duology and loved it even though I didn’t read shadow and bone first. So I would say you definitely don’t have to finish it.
u really don't have to read the trilogy before Six of Crows, only the first chapter or so seems confusing but it gets so much better trust me
not really, I read SoC duology, then SaB trilogy then yesterday I just finished KoS duology. i feel like personally you should read SaB before SoC as you'll get the world building ect. I read SoC before it blew up so I didn't realise SaB was a thing, and I was abut confused at the start of SoC but it wasn't life changing. although you can skip, personally I would read it before KoS. my recommended reading order would be: shadow and bone, seige and storm, ruin and rising, (maybe even The lives of saints and Language of thorns) six of crows, crooked kingdom, king of Scars, and rule of Wolves. :)
im gonna be honest, if i had read shadow and bone first i don’t think i would’ve ever read six of crows. shadow and bone was sm worse and probably would’ve put me off reading soc altogether
