Another R-O-S-E title I am currently reading is The Guest Room by Chris Bohjalian. I have updated my challenge and might need to increase it again since we still have another month of Summer Reading.

He’s one of those authors that I’ve read once and never read again although I really liked the book (Midwives) that I read. Maybe it’s because his books aren’t always rated too high not that that should matter. I did enjoy the tv show the flight attendant.

Do you have a favorite of his ?

My personal favorite by Chris Bohjalian is THE NIGHT STRANGERS.
I still have many of his books to read, but so far, I've been impressed with his wide range and quality.
The Night Strangers

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments I listened to Into the Water which works for the elements part. I also read How to Murder your Employer: a McMasters Guide to Murder, which works for R-O-S-E.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying Summer!

Christine | 798 comments I finished The Camel Club which counts for a conspiracy theory as part of story. Its an older book and it felt a bit dated but I thought some of the characters were very interesting, very eccentric, lol.

Have you seen the film adaptation yet? I think it was well-done. I read the book for the first time this year, days before seeing the film.

Movie Recommendations: JULES
I've watched it 5 times in the theater so far.
Great Cast, about an hour and a half running time
There is a UFO, an alien, a connection to cats, family and community dynamics, aging, dementia and assisted living.
I laughed and cried at the same time.

Finished reading HOT MILK by Deborah Levy today. This book features a conspiracy and a character with financial problems (task #5). I also started reading The Wind in the Willows, "Wind" element (task #4)

Movie Recommendation: Landscape with Invisible Hand. Based on a book, which I might have to read. Set in the year 2036 when seemingly benevolent aliens occupy Earth. Very thought provoking and profound, featuring much artwork representing the human experience. Too bad, the film isn't well-known, probably in limited theaters for a short time.

Rachel | 3524 comments So I’ve read some meh R-O-S-E books:

The only survivors by Megan Miranda and A twisted love story by Samantha Downing. The Downing book was really disappointing because I usually really enjoy her thrillers.

Then I read My grandmother asked me to tell you she’s sorry by Fredrik Backman. Loved it. It’s especially great on audio. This is my 3rd Backman and I’ve enjoyed them all.

Christine | 798 comments I read The Mister by EL James for opposites attract. It was mind candy. I’ve got a couple of others to add before the end of the week. I can hardly believe summer is coming to an end. I love fall but not ready for the gray days that come with it.

I have this on my distant to-read pile, hope I enjoy it more than you did. I was introduced to Louise Erdrich through one of these seasonal challenges and I think I've enjoyed most of her books so far. I'm currently reading a book of her poetry and liking it too.

Christine | 798 comments My last two books added to the challenge were Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon and Deep Water by Emma Bamford Anna for a book turned into a stage play and Deep water for an elemental. Both were good. Anna because it was a woman doing something different from the norm for a person of her times. Deep Water was very suspenseful.

Thanks Rachel for another great challenge. They help me get thru my endless stacks of TBR books! Iam a book hoarder and proud of it, lol.
