It is the 9th installment in her Sentinel Wars series, however, if you have not read any of her previous ones, you could easily jump in with any of her books, as they are written to be able to to be read as stand alones. But, be warned, she always weaves another story within the pages of the main one, so you want to pick up another book.
This one is a great read, and packed full of action. The only thing I do not like...and, it is liked by some of her fans...is that she has crude language when it comes to sex. Unlike many romance novels who use flowery language to describe the act, and thoughts between its lovers, SKB tends to use more Penthouse like words. But, the scenes are steamy, and well written beyond that one little gripe of mine, and I would highly recommend if you have not read her, and you like fantasy books, you might check her out.
