Gabe doesn't seem to forgive Skylar after learning the real truth about what happened after she left the island. We're his feelings justified? What was driving these feelings?

I think he was still hurt by the fact she kept parts of herself from him. I could understand how he would question if he knew the real Skylar or not. But seriously, he let it drag on for too long. Being in her presence for any amount of time should have shown him she was the same as she was then, just a little more famous than he would have ever guessed ;).

This was the one area of the story that drove me nuts. Even when it was clear she'd been manipulated by her father, he still continued demeaning her by calling her "princess" and deliberately trying to hurt. At some point, his motives for doing so changed but I thought he was just unfair. She was the one person who'd never judged him.

I agree, it drove me crazy.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments That alone lost this book any chance at 5 star rating for me.

Same for me, Charlene.

Yeah, it was one of the things that made me struggle with Gabe. I really like strong alpha men, but not when they are deliberately jerks/hurtful.

It just went on too long. Once he discovered she lived a life of substance, he should have had a different perspective.

I agree.

I read this book awhile ago when I thought it was book one in another series and this was the reason why I disliked the book. I thought Gabe was overbearing and mean towards Skylar. Reading it as a series made me more forgiving towards Gabe but this aspect of the story still dragged on for too long.
